2019 2nd Hockenheim DTM Round
The 2019 DTM Hockenheim Final is a motor racing event for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters held between 5 and 6 October 2019. The event, part of the 33rd season of the DTM, was held at the Hockenheimring in Germany. Background The final round of the DTM for 2019 was a dead rubber as far as the drivers' and manufacturers' championships were concerned, having already been won by René Rast and Audi respectively. The teams' championship however was far from resolved, as 32 points separated Audi squads Team Rosberg and Abt Sportsline with a potential 96 on offer. Three guest entries from the Super GT Series' GT500 class were accepted into the race ahead of the Japanese series' adoption of the Class One Touring Car regulations used by DTM for 2020. Hockenheim
Hockenheim () is a town in northwest Baden-Württemberg, Germany, about 20 km south of Mannheim and 10 km west of Walldorf. It is located in the Upper Rhine valley on the tourist theme routes "Baden Asparagus Route" () and Bertha Benz Memorial Route. The town is widely known for its Hockenheimring, a motor racing course, which has hosted over 30 Formula One German Grand Prix races since 1970. W Racing Team
W Racing Team (WRT) is a Belgian auto racing team founded in 2009 by engineer and former head of Volkswagen Motorsport René Verbist, racing driver Vincent Vosse, and entrepreneur Yves Weerts. Since 2010 the team campaigns Audi R8 LMSs in several international sports car series. In 2010 the team won the Belcar Drivers' and Teams' Championships, while in 2011 they won the Spa 24 Hours. Jonathan Aberdein (born 14 February 1998) is a South African racing driver. He currently competes for Jota Sport in the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship. Audi Sport Team Phoenix
Phoenix Racing is a motor racing team based at the Nürburgring in Germany. The team competes in series such as the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and FIA GT1 World Championship and was the winner of the 2022 24 Hours of Nürburgring with the car #15. History Phoenix Racing competed in the German Supertouring Championship in 1999 with Michael Bartels and Arnd Meier driving Audi A4s. The team moved to the revived Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters series in 2000, running Opel Astra V8 Coupes, with Manuel Reuter finishing as runner-up and Bartels finishing seventh. Mike Rockenfeller
Mike Rockenfeller (born 31 October 1983), nicknamed "Rocky", is a German professional racing driver and was an Audi factory driver competing in the DTM and the FIA World Endurance Championship. He won his first DTM title in 2013, driving for Audi Sport Team Phoenix. He also won the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans. Career Rockenfeller began racing karts in 1995 at age of 11, winning the Bambini North state championship. He competed in various local and national karting series in the 1990s. In 2002, he won the Jörg van Ommen Kart Cup Super Series. In 2001, Rockenfeller moved to cars, and finished 4th in the Formula König championship, winning one race. Team RMG better known as BMW Team RMG, is a German racing team founded in late 2010 by Stefan Reinhold, in order to race in the DTM in 2012, also coinciding with BMW return to the championship after 20 Years of absence from the championship, despite being a team build from the scratch, they signed 26 employees and many others for the 2012 season, with many previously worked for various racing teams, in 2012 the debut year of the team, Martin Tomczyk the reigning DTM champion from 2011 signed with BMW and he was placed in RMG, while Joey Hand the first American driver to race in a factory squad in the DTM and member from the BMW American Le Mans Series team, was also placed in the team. Marco Wittmann (born 24 November 1989) is a German professional racing driver, and BMW Motorsport works driver. He currently resides in Markt Erlbach. Wittmann has competed in such series as Formula Three Euroseries and Formula BMW ADAC/Europe. Audi RS5 Turbo DTM
The Audi RS5 Turbo DTM is a Class One Touring Car constructed by the German car manufacturer Audi AG for use in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The car was an updated version of the previous Audi RS5 DTM that had a naturally aspirated engine. The Audi RS5 Turbo DTM would remain to be based on the production Audi RS5 car. The car made its DTM debut in the 2019 season under "Class 1" regulations and was used until the 2020 season. The RS5 Turbo is Audi's first-turbo powered DTM car. Ronnie Quintarelli (born 9 August 1979) is an Italian racecar driver, currently competing in Super GT. A four-time champion, he holds the all-time record for the most drivers' championship titles won in the GT500 class of Super GT. Tsugio Matsuda
is a Japanese professional racing driver. He has won the Formula Nippon series twice, in 2007 and 2008. He has also competed in the All-Japan Formula Three Championship. Matsuda has also become a regular participant in the Super GT series which he won in 2014 jointly with Ronnie Quintarelli.
