2018–19 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2018–19 West Coast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in September 2018 and will end with the 2019 West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament March 2019. This is the 68th season for WCC men's basketball, and the 30th under its current name of "West Coast Conference". The conference was founded in 1952 as the California Basketball Association, became the West Coast Athletic Conference in 1956, and dropped the word "Athletic" in 1989. Head coaches Coaching changes On February 13, 2018, Pepperdine announced that head coach Marty Wilson would not return following the end of the season. He finished at Pepperdine with a seven-year record of 88–129 (91–139 when including his 3–10 record as interim head coach in 1995–96). On March 12, the school hired Lorenzo Romar as head coach. NCAA Division I (D-I) is the highest level of College athletics, intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States, which accepts players globally. D-I schools include the major collegiate athletic powers, with large budgets, more elaborate facilities and more athletic scholarships than Divisions II and III as well as many smaller schools committed to the highest level of intercollegiate competition. Frankie Ferrari
Frankie Ferrari (born December 20, 1995) is an American coach for the San Francisco Dons and former player. He played college basketball for San Francisco and professionally in Europe and the NBA G League. Early life and high school Ferrari was born and grew up in Burlingame, California. He initially attended Burlingame High School, where he was called up to the varsity team as a freshman for the postseason and started as a sophomore but transferred to Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco before his junior year. Yoeli Childs (born January 13, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Saga Ballooners of the Japanese B.League. He played college basketball for the BYU Cougars men's basketball, BYU Cougars. High school career Childs played at Bingham High School, a class 6A high school, in South Jordan, Utah. During his sophomore year, the 2013–14 season, he averaged 11.1 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game as Bingham advanced to the state quarterfinals. James Batemon III (born April 8, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for Ironi Kiryat Ata of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. West Coast Conference
The West Coast Conference (WCC) — known as the California Basketball Association from 1952 to 1956 and then as the West Coast Athletic Conference until 1989 — is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I consisting of ten member schools across the states of California, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Herbert Joseph Sendek Jr. (born February 22, 1963) is an American college basketball coach who is the current men's basketball head coach at Santa Clara. Early life Herbert Joseph Sendek, Jr. of Slovak descent, grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Penn Hills High School. The Columbia Lions basketball team is the basketball team that represents Columbia University in New York City. The school's team currently competes in the Ivy League. Kyle Andrew Smith (born June 15, 1969) is an American college basketball coach who is the men's head coach for the Washington State Cougars men's basketball, Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12 Conference.
