2018–19 S.L. Benfica Season
The 2018–19 season was Sport Lisboa e Benfica's 115th season in existence and the club's 85th consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football. It started with the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round on 7 August 2018 and concluded on 18 May 2019 with Benfica becoming Primeira Liga champions for a record 37th time. Internationally, Benfica played in the Champions League group stage for the ninth successive time, a Portuguese record ranking fourth all-time. However, with two losses at Estádio da Luz, they set a domestic record of five consecutive home matches without a win in the competition. Luís Filipe Vieira
Luís Filipe Ferreira Vieira (born 22 June 1949) is a Portuguese real estate businessman who was the 33rd president of sports club S.L. Benfica, from October 2003 to July 2021. He was also president of the club's SAD board of directors until July 2021, when he was arrested in operation "Red Card" ( pt, Cartão Vermelho). Early life and career Vieira was born on 22 June 1949 in Bairro das Furnas, São Domingos de Benfica, to Benvinda Ferreira (mother), a factory worker, and Fernando Mendes Vieira, a construction worker. Vieira started his professional career in the tire industry, where he got the nickname " Kadhafi dos pneus" (Kadhafi of tires). Ljubomir Fejsa ( sr-Cyrl, Љубомир Фејса, ; born 14 August 1988) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays for Partizan as a defensive midfielder. 2018–19 UEFA Europa League Knockout Phase
The 2018–19 UEFA Europa League knockout phase began on 12 February and ended on 29 May 2019 with the final at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan, to decide the champions of the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League. A total of 32 teams competed in the knockout phase. For the first time, the video assistant referee (VAR) system was used in the competition, where it was implemented in the final. A total of 32 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the knockout phase of the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League.
