The 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season began in September 2018 and ended with the 2019 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey tournament's championship game on March 24, 2019. People's United Center
M&T Bank Arena, previously known as TD Bank Sports Center and People's United Center, is a multi-purpose arena in Hamden, Connecticut. Its design is unusual in that it consists of two separate playing and seating areas, one intended for basketball and one intended for ice hockey, joined together within a common facility. It seats 3,570 for basketball and 3,386 for hockey. Officially, the hockey side is known as the Frank Perrotti, Jr. Arena at the People's United Center. The center opened on January 27, 2007, and is home to the Quinnipiac University men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey teams. It replaced Burt Kahn Court for the basketball team and the Northford Ice Pavilion for ice hockey. It is located on Quinnipiac's York Hill Campus and is part of a large expansion project for that campus. The center cost $52 million to build. Annie Pankowski
Annie Pankowski (born November 4, 1994) is an American women's ice hockey player with the PWHPA and the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was the first California born and trained player to make the United States women's national under-18 ice hockey team. Playing career Across 154 NCAA games, Pankowski put up 206 points. She took leave for the 2017-18 season to train with the American Olympic team. She was a Patty Kazmaier Award finalist three years in a row from 2016 to 2019. She was drafted 1st overall by the Metropolitan Riveters in the 2018 NWHL Draft, but has yet to make an appearance for the club. In May 2019, she joined the PWHPA, after the collapse of the CWHL. Emily Brown (born December 30, 1998) is an American ice hockey defender for PWHL Boston of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Brown played college ice hockey for the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey program, serving as co-captain for two seasons and captain for one season. Playing career During her teens, Brown played club ice hockey for the Minnesota Junior Whitecaps and in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League, in addition to playing on the varsity team of her high school. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Abigail "Abbey" Levy (born April 2, 2000) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for PWHL New York of the Professional Women's Hockey League. She was selected by New York 64th overall, in the eleventh round of the 2023 PWHL Draft. Playing career Amateur Shattuck St. Mary's Levy attended Shattuck St. Mary's, where she played for their 16U and 19U teams and won three USA Hockey National Championships in three seasons, allowing an average of just one goal per game in tournament play. Minnesota State Levy announced her commitment to Minnesota State University on May 8, 2016. Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The goaltender mostly plays in or near the area in front of the net called the ''Ice hockey rink#Crease, goal crease'' (often referred to simply as '' the crease''). Goaltenders tend to stay at or beyond the top of the crease to cut down on the angle of shots. Mark Johnson (ice Hockey)
Mark Einar Johnson (born September 22, 1957) is an American ice hockey coach for the University of Wisconsin–Madison women's ice hockey team. He is a former National Hockey League (NHL) player who appeared in 669 NHL regular season games between 1980 and 1990. He also played for the gold medal-winning 1980 U.S. Olympic team. Amateur career As a teenager, Johnson attended James Madison Memorial High School, where he was on the hockey team. He then played for the University of Wisconsin–Madison ice hockey team for three years under his father, legendary coach Bob Johnson. Kristen Campbell
Kristen Campbell (born November 30, 1997) is a Canadian ice hockey goaltender for the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) and member of the Canada women's national ice hockey team. She was the first woman to win the Frozen Four championship without conceding a goal. Career Campbell began her university career at the University of North Dakota but was forced to transfer to Wisconsin in 2017 after North Dakota dropped its women's hockey programme. She would become the fourth goaltender in Wisconsin history to record 90 wins with the university, being named WCHA Goaltender of the Year and a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in 2018. Emma Maltais is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward for PWHL Toronto of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) and member of Canada women's national ice hockey team. Career Growing up in southern Ontario, Maltais began skating at the age of 2 and began playing hockey at the age of 4. Nicole Schammel is an American ice hockey forward currently playing for the Minnesota Whitecaps of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). Career Schammel began her university career with Minnesota State University, but after only year there, she decided to transfer to the University of Minnesota. Across 152 NCAA games, she scored 113 points and was named a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in 2019. On June 6, 2019, Schammel signed her first professional contract with the Minnesota Whitecaps of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF).
