2018–19 Montenegrin First League
The 2018–19 Montenegrin First League was the 13th season of the top-tier association football in Montenegro. The season began on 3 August 2018 and ended on 25 May 2019. Sutjeska Nikšić were the defending champions. Teams Dečić and Kom were relegated at the end of the previous season. After earning promotion from the Montenegrin Second League, Mornar and Lovćen competed in the league this season. The following 10 clubs competed in 2018–19 First League. Montenegrin First League
The First League of Montenegro ( Montenegrin: ''Prva crnogorska fudbalska liga'' — ''Prva CFL'' — ''1. CFL''; ) is the top football league in Montenegro. Founded in 2006, competition is headed by the Football Association of Montenegro. 10 teams participate in this league. The winner of the Montenegrin First League starts the qualifications for the UEFA Champions League from the second round. The second and third placed team and Montenegrin Cup winner play in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Conference League. The last placed team is directly relegated to the Montenegrin Second League, and the two others are playing in Montenegrin First League playoffs. OFK Petrovac
OFK Petrovac is a football club based in Petrovac, Montenegro. They currently compete in the First League of Montenegro. History OFK Petrovac was founded in 1969, under the name ''FK Nafta''. During the first season, they played in the lowest-tier competition - Fourth League - South. At season 1971-72, FK Nafta became a runner-up in Fourth League championship, which gained them promotion to Montenegrin Republic League. From 1972 until the end of the century, most of the seasons, OFK Petrovac played in Montenegrin Republic League, with few relegations and comebacks from lower rank. Among the historical seasons in the club's history was 2000-01. As a second-placed team in Montenegrin Republic League, OFK Petrovac gained promotion to Yugoslav Second League. Bar, Montenegro
Bar ( Montenegrin and Serbian: Бар, ; sq, Tivar; it, Antivari or ''Antibari'') is a coastal town and seaport in southern Montenegro. It is the capital of the Bar Municipality and a center for tourism. According to the 2011 census, the city proper had 13,503 inhabitants, while the total population of Bar Municipality was 42,068. Stadion Sveti Petar Cetinjski
Stadium Sveti Petar Cetinjski (Montenegrin language, Montenegrin: ''Stadion Sveti Petar Cetinjski'') is a Soccer-specific stadium, football-specific stadium constructed in 2022 in Cetinje, Montenegro. It is the same site on which there was a historic venue called Stadion Obilića Poljana which opened in 1957 and was used until 2017. Upon its completion, the new stadium will be used by Cetinje's local football teams as well as the Montenegro national football team. It was named after Petar I Petrović-Njegoš. History The first stadium in Cetinje was built in 1913, near the location of Obilića Poljana. From 1943 to 1957, the stadium was relocated near the Cetinje Monastery, and during the summer of 1957, the newer Stadion Obilića Poljana was opened. Cetinje
Cetinje (, ) is a town in Montenegro. It is the former royal capital (''prijestonica'' / приjестоница) of Montenegro and is the location of several national institutions, including the official residence of the president of Montenegro. According to the 2011 census, the town had a population of 14,093 while the Cetinje Municipality had 16,657 residents . Cetinje is the centre of Cetinje Municipality. The city rests on a small karst plain surrounded by limestone mountains, including Mount Lovćen, the legendary mountain in Montenegrin historiography. Aleksandar Nedović ( Cyrillic: Александар Недовић; born 5 September 1978) is a Montenegrin football manager and former player. He last manages FK Budućnost Podgorica. Playing career Club After starting out at Budućnost Podgorica in the First League of FR Yugoslavia, Nedović was transferred to Partizan in the 2001 winter transfer window. He made just three league appearances for the club over the course of three and a half years, but also spent some time on loan to Čukarički ( 2002) and Napredak Kruševac ( 2003). In the 2008 winter transfer window, Nedović moved from Grbalj to fellow Montenegrin First League side Rudar Pljevlja. Braća Velašević Stadium
Braća Velašević Stadium is a football stadium in Danilovgrad, Montenegro. It is situated near the Zeta riverbank, it is used for football matches. The stadium is the home ground of FK Iskra. History The stadium was built after World War II, near the Zeta river, in the centre of town. Over time, it has undergone several renovations, with the most recent reconstruction completed in 2016. Today, the capacity of the two stands is 2,500 seats and the floodlights were installed in 2019. Pitch and conditions The pitch measures 105×65 meters. Danilovgrad ( cnr, Даниловград) is a town in central Montenegro. It has a population of 6,852 (2011 census). It is situated in the Danilovgrad Municipality which lies along the main route between Montenegro's two largest cities, Podgorica and Nikšić. Via villages, Danilovgrad forms part of a conurbation with Podgorica. The town of Danilovgrad is located in the fertile valley of the Zeta River, sometimes called also the Bjelopavlići plain, after the name of the local clan. Stadion Donja Sutvara is a football stadium in Radanovići, Municipality of Kotor, Montenegro. It is used for football matches and is the home turf of OFK Grbalj. The stadium holds 1,500 people. History The stadium was built in 1995 near the village Donja Sutvara, on the outskirts of Radanovići. It is situated near the main road between Kotor and Budva and is the home turf of OFK Grbalj. Radanovići (Serbian Cyrillic: Радановићи) is a small town in the municipality of Kotor, Montenegro. Omladinski fudbalski klub Grbalj (, ) is a Montenegrin football club based in the small town of Radanovići, municipality of Kotor. They currently compete in the Montenegrin Second League. History The first football club in Radanovići, which existed only few seasons, was founded in 1970. After many years, the club was refounded in June 1995 and in their first season the team gained promotion to the Montenegrin Republic League for the 1996-97 season (third tier of the FR Yugoslavia football system). Branko Brnović
Branko Brnović (Cyrillic: Бранко Брновић; born 8 August 1967) is a Montenegrin manager and retired professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Club career After making his professional debuts with local club Budućnost, Brnović signed with national giants Partizan in 1991, helping the latter club to back-to-back national championships, with the addition of two cups. In the 1992–93 season, as it won the league and lost the domestic cup to city rivals Red Star, he scored a career-best six goals (the team netted 103). In 1994, Brnović moved abroad and joined RCD Espanyol in La Liga – then known as Español. A starter in four of his six seasons in Catalonia, he left after a poor individual campaign (only one game in the league), which ended with conquest of the Copa del Rey.
