2018–19 Minnesota Timberwolves Season
The 2018–19 Minnesota Timberwolves season was the 30th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before the start of training camp, disgruntled All-Star Jimmy Butler requested a trade, indicating that he would not re-sign with the Timberwolves during the 2019 off-season. After multiple disputes and games where he played for Minnesota, Butler's wish was finally granted, sending him to the Philadelphia 76ers on November 12, 2018. On March 30, 2019, on his return against his former team Butler was booed during the players' introductions. On January 6, 2019, the Timberwolves fired head coach Tom Thibodeau and named Ryan Saunders as interim head coach. With a loss against the Hornets on March 21, the Timberwolves were eliminated from playoff contention. Tom Thibodeau
Thomas Joseph Thibodeau Jr. ( ; born January 17, 1958) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He served as an assistant coach for the United States men's national basketball team from 2013 to 2016, and helped Team USA win a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games. John Lucas III
John Harding Lucas III (born November 21, 1982) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for Baylor and Oklahoma State. Early life Born in Washington, D.C. to former NBA player and coach John Lucas II and his wife DeEdgra, Lucas lived in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania for a time as a youth. Lucas was the starting point guard on the Bellaire High School basketball team and played alongside fellow future NBA players Emeka Okafor and Lawrence Roberts. Lucas has a younger brother, Jai. Andrew Wiggins
Andrew Christian Wiggins (born February 23, 1995) is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers after one year of college basketball with the Kansas Jayhawks. Anthony Tolliver
Anthony Lamar Tolliver (born June 1, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Creighton Bluejays, and played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 11 different franchises, tied for 6th most all-time. High school and college career Tolliver committed to Creighton in the fall of 2002. He was one of four players from his Kickapoo High School team to play Division I basketball; the team ended his senior season of 2002–03 ranked 12th by the USA Today and as the Missouri Class 5A State Champions. Karl-Anthony Towns
Karl-Anthony Towns Jr. (born November 15, 1995), sometimes known as KAT (his initials), is a Dominican-American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Gorgui Dieng
Gorgui Sy Dieng (; ; born January 18, 1990) is a Senegalese professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals. Dieng was selected as the 21st overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz and was traded on draft night to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He spent seven seasons with the team before being dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies in February 2020.
