The 2018–19 Cyprus Basketball Division A is the 52nd season of the Cyprus Basketball Division A, the top-tier level men's professional basketball league on Cyprus. It started on 13 October 2018. Competition format Eight teams joined the regular season, where after a three-legs round-robin tournament, the four first qualified would join the playoffs for the title. AEL and Omonia promoted from Division 2 while APOP was relegated. A single-elimination, knockout, or sudden death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Cyprus Basketball Division B
The Cypriot Basketball Division B is currently the second-tier level men's professional basketball competition of the Cypriot basketball league system. It is run and governed by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Format At present, eight clubs compete in the league. One team (the last one) at the end of the season is promoted to the first division, whilst one team from the first division is relegated. Strovolos ( el, Στρόβολος; tr, Strovolos; hy, Ստրովոլոս) is a municipality of Nicosia District. With a population of nearly 70,000, it is the second most populated municipality in Cyprus, after Limassol, and the most populated municipality of Nicosia District. It was established in 1986.
