2018–19 Bolton Wanderers F.C. Season
The 2018–19 season was Bolton Wanderers's second season back in the second tier of English football following their immediate return from EFL League One. The season covered the period from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019. Pre-season Friendlies against St Mirren, Atherton Collieries, FC Halifax Town, Morecambe, Girona, Guiseley and Peterborough United were confirmed. The game against St Mirren was cancelled a day before when the players went on strike due to unpaid wages. Bolton's game against Morecambe was changed from an away game to a behind closed doors match at Bolton's Lostock training ground due to Globe Arena not yet being ready to host football matches. Bolton (, locally ) is a large town in Greater Manchester in North West England, formerly a part of Lancashire. A former mill town, Bolton has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish people, Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, introducing a wool and cotton-weaving tradition. The urbanisation and development of the town largely coincided with the introduction of textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution. Bolton was a 19th-century boomtown and, at its zenith in 1929, its 216 cotton mills and 26 bleaching and dyeing works made it one of the largest and most productive centres of Spinning (textiles), cotton spinning in the world. Mekhi Leacock-McLeod (born 15 September 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Haringey Borough. He played in the Football League for Accrington Stanley. Career In June 2017, McLeod signed for Accrington Stanley on a one-year deal. Atherton () is a town in Greater Manchester, England and historically a part of Lancashire. The town, including Hindsford, Howe Bridge and Hag Fold, is south of Bolton, east of Wigan, and northwest of Manchester. From the 17th century, for about 300 years, Atherton was known as Chowbent, which was frequently shortened to Bent, the town's old nickname. During the Industrial Revolution, the town was a key part of the Manchester Coalfield. The Mazuma Stadium (formerly known as the Globe Arena for sponsorship reasons) is a football stadium in Morecambe, Lancashire, England, which is the home of Morecambe F.C. The stadium replaced the old Morecambe F.C. stadium, Christie Park, which was Morecambe's home from 1921 to 2010. Peterborough () is a cathedral city in Cambridgeshire, east of England.
