2018 World TeamTennis Season
The 2018 World TeamTennis season was the 43rd season of the top professional team tennis league in the United States. The Springfield Lasers defeated the Philadelphia Freedoms in the WTT Finals to win their first King Trophy as WTT champions. Competition format The 2018 World TeamTennis season included six teams. Each team played a 14-match regular-season schedule with seven home and seven away matches. The top two teams in the regular season qualified for the World TeamTennis Finals. The higher seed was treated as the "home" team in the WTT Finals and had the right to determine the order of play. The winner of the WTT Finals was awarded the King Trophy. World TeamTennis
World TeamTennis (WTT) is a mixed-gender professional tennis league played with a team format in the United States, which was founded in 1973. The league's season normally takes place in the summer months. Players from the ATP and WTA take a break from their tour schedules to partake in World TeamTennis. WTT was the first professional sports league to grant equal status to each man and woman competing for their teams. Kevin King (tennis)
Kevin King (born February 28, 1991) is an American former professional tennis player who primarily played on the ATP Challenger Tour. He played collegiate tennis for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and was a two-time ITA All-American (2011 and 2012) and a three-time All-ACC performer. María José Martínez Sánchez
María José Martínez Sánchez (; born 12 August 1982) is a Spanish retired professional tennis player. In singles, she has won five WTA singles titles, her biggest being a Premier 5 title at the 2010 Italian Open where she defeated two former World No. 1 players, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Janković, en route to the title. As a junior, she won the Orange Bowl and French Open. She reached her career high ranking in singles of World No. 19 on 10 May 2010. Robert Lindstedt
Robert Lindstedt (born 19 March 1977) is a Swedish former professional tennis player who specialized in doubles. He turned professional in 1998, and reached a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 3 in May 2013. Lindstedt won his first Grand Slam title at the 2014 Australian Open with partner Łukasz Kubot. He has also reached four finals at the Wimbledon Championships: in 2010, 2011 and 2012 alongside Horia Tecău in men's doubles, and in 2019 with Jeļena Ostapenko in mixed doubles. Marcelo Fedrizzi Demoliner (born 18 January 1989) is a Brazilian professional tennis player. A doubles specialist, he won his first title at the ATP 250 Antalya Open with Santiago González in June 2018, after having reached six finals at that level. Neal Skupski (born 1 December 1989) is a British professional tennis player who specialises in doubles. He achieved his career-high doubles ranking of world No. 1 on 14 November 2022. He is a two-time Grand Slam champion in mixed doubles, having won the 2021 and 2022 Wimbledon Championships alongside Desirae Krawczyk. Madison Brengle (born April 3, 1990) is an American professional tennis player. Her biggest success she had in early 2015, reaching her first WTA Tour final in January, followed by a fourth round major event appearance at the Australian Open. Vania King (born February 3, 1989) is an American former tennis player. A former top-ten doubles player, King won both the Wimbledon and US Open women's doubles titles in 2010 with partner Yaroslava Shvedova, with whom she also reached the final of the 2011 US Open.
