2018 World Men's Curling Championship
The 2018 World Men's Curling Championship (branded as the 361˚ World Men's Curling Championship 2018 for sponsorship reasons) was held from March 31 to April 8, 2018 at Orleans Arena, on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. In a rematch of the 2017 gold medal game, the Swedish team led by Niklas Edin beat the defending champion Canadian team led by Brad Gushue 7–3 in the final to win the championship. In the game, Edin led 5–0 after five ends, thanks in part to stealing two in the fourth end when Gushue was light on a draw to the four-foot and another steal in the fifth after a missed runback double. Canada condeded the game after eight ends, and won the silver medal. It was the eighth championship for Sweden, and the third for Edin. Scotland, skipped by Bruce Mouat won the bronze. Paradise is an unincorporated town and census-designated place (CDP) in Clark County, Nevada, United States, adjacent to the city of Las Vegas. It was formed on December 8, 1950. Zou Dejia
Zou Dejia (; born April 7, 1983) is a Chinese curler from Harbin. Career In 2007, Zou skipped the Chinese team at the 2007 Winter Universiade. The rink finished with a 4–5 record, missing the medal round and placing fifth. Zou's second international event was at the 2011 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship where he and team mate Li Xue represented China. The pair finished the round robin with a 5–2 record, and won their qualification game against Finland to make the playoffs. However, they lost in the quarter-final to Sweden. In 2012, Zou became the skip of the second Chinese team on the World Curling Tour. His first WCT tour event win as a skip came at the 2012 Horizon Laser Vision Center Classic where he beat Brent Gedak in the final. Brett Philip Gallant (born February 18, 1990 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian curler from Calgary. He currently plays second for the Brendan Bottcher rink. Career Juniors Gallant has represented Prince Edward Island in the Canadian Junior Curling Championships numerous times, winning the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships on his fourth attempt. Gallant won five straight provincial titles in P.E.I. from 2006 to 2010. Mark Nichols, ONL (born January 1, 1980) is a Canadian curler from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. He currently plays third for the Brad Gushue rink. Nichols is a former Olympic champion curler, having played third for Team Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where the team won a gold medal. He also won a World Championship with Gushue in 2017. Career Nichols was born in Labrador City, Newfoundland, the son of Gerry and Helen Nichols. Nichols began curling at the age of 3 in Labrador City. Bally Haly Golf & Curling Club ( ), is a semi-private curling club and golf course located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is the oldest golf club in Atlantic Canada, having been founded in 1896. In that year, a group of ten prominent Newfoundland gentlemen formed the Newfoundland Golf Club. The 2017 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships was held 2–8 November in Erina, New South Wales, Australia. The top three teams from the men's and women's tournaments qualified for the 2018 World Men's Curling Championship and 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship respectively. 2017 European Curling Championships
The 2017 European Curling Championships was held from November 17 to 25 in St Gallen, Switzerland. The Group C competitions was held in May in Andorra. At the conclusion of the championships, the top eight women's teams will go to the 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship in North Bay, Ontario, and the top eight men's teams will go to the 2018 World Men's Curling Championship in Las Vegas, United States.
