United States Swimming National Championships
The United States Swimming National Championships (a.k.a. "Nationals") are held annually, in summer. The event is organized by USA Swimming, and is held in a long course (50m) pool. In the past, and as recently as 2007, there were 2 meets annually: and Spring and Summer Nationals. The Spring meet began as a 25-yard (short course) meet, while the Summer meet was long course. Prior to USA Swimming's creation in the late 1970s, the meet was run by the AAU. Phillips 66 began sponsoring the meet in 1973, which continues through today although the branding of the sponsorship changed to ConocoPhillips in the early 2000s. This is one of the longest sponsorships in U.S. sports. Justin Ress
Justin Ress (born August 3, 1997) is an American swimmer. As a member of the USA national team Justin won the gold medal in the 50 meter backstroke at the 2022 FINA World Championships and was a member of the USA gold medal winning 4X100 free relay. He was also a key part of the USA team that defeated Australia in the resumption of the Duel in the Pool series in 2022. Ress competed as a member of the Cali Condors of the International Swimming League from 2019-2021 and looks forward to resumption of ISL in the near future. Ress was US national champion in the 100 backstroke in 2022 and 50 backstroke in 2017 after which he competed in the men's 50 meter backstroke event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. Ress swam collegiately for North Carolina State University where he was a 3-time NCAA champion, 21-time NCAA All-American, and 11-time ACC champion. Zach Harting
Zach Harting (born August 27, 1997) is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in the butterfly and freestyle events. He currently represents the DC Trident which is part of the International Swimming League. He competed in the men's 200 metre butterfly at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. In 2021, he qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 200m Butterfly. Early life Zach Harting was born August 27, 1997 in Madison, Alabama, as the son of Scott and Lori Harting. Harting attended Bob Jones High School and swam for the Huntsville Swim Association. In 2014, he was the High School State Champion in the 100-yard butterfly. Harting swam collegiately at the University of Louisville from 2015 to 2019. Justin Wright (swimmer)
Justin Wright (March 8, 1981 – March 18, 2008) was an American artist who worked at Pixar Animation Studios for slightly over a year until his death. Biography Born with several congenital heart defects, Wright received a heart transplant at the age of 12. A year after his transplant, he was a recipient of a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which was to visit Disney World. At Disney World he was able to take a tour of their animation studios. The tour cemented his love of animation and storytelling. He graduated from Sacramento Adventist Academy in 1999, attended Pacific Union College for two years, and also graduated from California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California. Prior to attending California Institute of the Arts Justin worked as a Production Assistant at Pixar. John "Jack" Peet Conger (born September 26, 1994) is an American competition swimmer who specializes in butterfly and freestyle events. He is an Olympic gold medalist in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the current American record-holder in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:37.35. Early life Jack Conger was born on September 26, 1994. Conger grew up in Rockville, Maryland where he swam for the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club under head coach Sue Chen. William Andrew Licon ( ; born August 25, 1994) is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in breaststroke and medley events. He currently competes for the professional team LA Current in the International Swimming League. Licon is a three-time World Championship medalist, a two-time Pan American Games gold medalist and has been a member of the United States national team since 2015. He is the current American record-holder in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:47.91. Andrew Wilson (born September 16, 1993) is a retired American swimmer. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, he placed 6th in the 100 meter breaststroke, 17th in the 200 meter breaststroke, and won a gold medal in the 4x100 meter medley relay, for his efforts in the prelims of the relay.
