2018 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup was a series of races in Olympic Cross-Country (XCO), Cross-Country Eliminator (XCE), and Downhill (DHI). Each discipline had an Elite Men and an Elite Women category. There were also under-23 categories in the XCO and junior categories in the DHI. The cross-country series and the downhill series each had seven rounds, some of which were held concurrently. The 2018 series returned to some classic venues, including Fort William, Nové Město, and Mont-Sainte-Anne. There was also a race in Stellenbosch, which was the first time a World Cup race had been held in South Africa since 2014. 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup
The 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup was a series of races in Cross-country cycling, Olympic Cross-Country (XCO), Cross-country eliminator, Cross-Country Eliminator (XCE), and Downhill mountain biking, Downhill (DHI). Each discipline had an Elite Men and an Elite Women category. There were also men's and women's under-23 categories in the XCO and junior men's and women's categories in the DHI. The cross-country series had six rounds and the downhill series had seven rounds. The Cross-Country Eliminator (XCE) was included as a UCI World Cup discipline for the first time since 2014. The XCE schedule for 2017 had six rounds. The XCE World Cup events had previously been held alongside the XCO and DHI races, but in 2017 they were held as separate events. Nino Schurter
Nino Schurter (born 13 May 1986) is a Swiss cross-country cyclist who races for the SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team. Schurter won the world championship in men's cross-country in 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 and the overall UCI World Cup in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022 and thus become the first man to hold 8 World Cup overall titles. He won the gold medal in mountain biking at the 2016 Olympics, the silver medal 2012 Olympics and the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics. Maja Włoszczowska
Maja Martyna Włoszczowska (Polish pronunciation: ; born 9 November 1983 in Warsaw) is a Polish mountain biker. She is the 2008 and 2016 Olympic silver medalist in cross-country cycling. She is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Career Włoszczowska won the silver medal in mountain biking at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Since 2009, she has lent her name to a cross-country race in her home town of Jelenia Góra, called "Jelenia Góra Trophy Maja Włoszczowska MTB Race". Riders such as Miguel Martinez, Catharine Pendrel or Mary McConneloug have taken part in it. Włoszczowska became the world champion in elite cross-country mountain biking in 2010. Anton Cooper (born 11 August 1994) is a New Zealand cross-country cyclist who races for the Trek Factory Racing XC Team. He is the 2015 World Under 23 Cross-country Mountain bike champion and the 2012 World Junior Cross-country Mountain bike champion. Stéphane Tempier (born 5 March 1986) is a French cross-country mountain biker who races for the Trek Factory Racing. He won the silver medal in the junior cross country at the 2004 world championships in Les Gets, France. At the 2005 world championships he won the bronze medal in the cross country team relay, riding the men's under-23 leg for the French team. Tempier represented France in the mountain bike cross country at the 2012 Summer Olympics and finished in 11th place, 2:23 behind the winner.
