2018 Tour De France, Stage 1 To Stage 11
The 2018 Tour de France was the 105th edition of Tour de France, one of cycling's Grand Tours. The Tour began in Noirmoutier-en-l'Île with a flat stage on 7 July, and Stage 11 occurred on 18 July with a mountainous stage to La Rosière. The race finished on the Champs-Élysées in Paris on 29 July. Classification standings Stage 1 7 July 2018 – Noirmoutier-en-l'Île to Fontenay-le-Comte, The race departed from Noirmoutier-en-l'Île heading south, following the coast to Les Sables-d'Olonne. The route then turned southeast with an intermediate sprint at La Tranche-sur-Mer. Continuing east, the race passed through Chaillé-les-Marais before the category 4 climb of the ''Côte de Vix'' and a bonification point at Maillezais. The race then turned north to the flat finish at Fontenay-le-Comte. Combativity Award In The Tour De France
The combativity award is a prize given in the Tour de France for the most combative rider overall during the race. Historically, it favored constant attackers as it was based on the distance spent in a breakaway, included winning checkpoints and outright stage wins. Today, the winner is chosen by a jury. Besides the overall winner, the jury also awards a combativity award to the most aggressive rider at the end of each stage, with this rider allowed to wear a red number the following race day. The 1981 Tour de France marked the last time the winner of the general classification also won the combativity award. Alexander Kristoff (born 5 July 1987) is a Norwegian professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He won the Norwegian National Road Race Championships in 2007 and 2011. Marcel Kittel (born 11 May 1988) is a German former racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2011 and 2019 for the , and squads. Fernando Gaviria Rendón (born 19 August 1994) is a Colombian professional road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is well known as a sprinter. He placed fourth overall at the 2016 Tour de France and became the first British rider to win the young rider classification, one year ahead of his twin brother Simon. Maillezais () is a commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France. It was once an island in the Marais Poitevin, until monks of the Maillezais Abbey dug canals in the 13th century.
