2018 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup
The 2018 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 27th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia from 3 to 10 March 2018. The number of teams for this year's cup was the same as last year's tournament where six teams competed. Japan and New Zealand, who competed previously, did not join this edition and were replaced by Argentina and Ireland. England was Great Britain's only country that participated in this edition. Australia clinched their tenth title in this tournament after defeating England 2–1 in the final match. Razie Rahim
Muhammad Razie Abdul Rahim (born 25 August 1987) is a Malaysian field hockey player who plays as a defender. He is known as the penalty corner specialist. Personal life He holds a Masters in Human Resource Management at University Putra Malaysia. In 2016, he reported as one of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) trainers. Career Razie made his debut in the Malaysia Hockey League in 2006 for Ernst and Young (Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club). He emerged as the league top scorer in 2011 season. Samuel Ian Ward (born 24 December 1990), known as Sam Ward, is an English field hockey player who plays as a forward for Old Georgians and the England and Great Britain national teams. Club career Ward plays club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Old Georgians. He has also played club hockey for Beeston (3 spells), Holcombe, Loughborough Students and Leicester. International career He competed for Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics, and for England in the 2014 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. Barry John Middleton (born 12 January 1984) is regarded as one of the greatest British field hockey players in history. He played as a midfielder and forward for England and Great Britain and is the most capped British hockey player in history and captained his country for many years. Middleton was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to hockey. Corey Weyer (born 28 March 1996) is an Australian field hockey player who plays as a defender for the Australian national team. Career Junior National Teams Weyer has represented Australia at junior level in both Under 18 and Under 21 age groups. In 2014, Weyer was a member of the Australia Under 18 side at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Lucas Martín Vila (born 23 August 1986) is an Argentine field hockey player who plays for Spanish club Benalmádena as a forward. Eugene Magee (born 1 April 1986) Ireland men's field hockey international. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship.
