2018 North Carolina House Of Representatives Election
An election was held on November 6, 2018 to elect all 120 members to North Carolina's House of Representatives. The election coincided with the elections for other offices, including U.S. House of Representatives and state senate. The primary election was held on May 8, 2018 with a run-off on June 26, 2018. Republicans retained control of the House, despite losing the popular vote, but lost their three-fifths supermajority after a net loss of nine seats (compared to the results of the 2016 elections), winning 65 seats compared to 55 seats for the Democrats. North Carolina House Of Representatives
The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. The qualifications to be a member of the House are found in the state Constitution: "Each Representative, at the time of his election, shall be a qualified voter of the State, and shall have resided in the district for which he is chosen for one year immediately preceding his election." Elsewhere, the constitution specifies that qualified voters that are 21 are eligible for candidacy except if otherwise disqualified by the constitution, and that no elected officials may deny the existence of God, although the latter provision is no longer enforced, as it would be illegal to do so. Allison Anne Dahle (born March 25, 1964) is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. Dahle has represented the 11th district (including parts of Wake County) since 2019. Personal life Dahle was born at the old Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Duane Raymond Hall, II (born February 6, 1967) is an American attorney and politician. Elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives 11th district in 2012, Representative Hall was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Freshman Leader. Re-elected in 2014, Rep. Write-in Candidate
A write-in candidate is a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot but seeks election by asking voters to cast a vote for the candidate by physically writing in the person's name on the ballot. North Carolina Green Party
The North Carolina Green Party is a political party in the state of North Carolina, and the NC affiliate of the Green Party of the United States. It has officially qualified for ballot access until 2020 statewide election. Since 2006, it has worked in collaboration with other organizations seeking to reform state election laws. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association.
