2018 National Pro Fastpitch Season
The 2018 National Pro Fastpitch season was the 15th season of professional softball under the name National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) for the only professional women's softball league in the United States. From 1997 to 2002, NPF operated under the names Women's Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL). Each year, the playoff teams battle for the Cowles Cup. Milestones and events On October 12, 2017, it was reported the Texas Charge would be dissolving, effective immediately. The NPF did not make an announcement regarding the Charge, but all Charge players under contract were added to the league's transactions page as free agents. In an arrangement similar to the Beijing Eagles', NPF announced in December 2017 that Softball Australia would be operating a 2018 expansion team, the Aussie Spirit. National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), formerly the Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL), was a professional women's softball league in the United States. The teams battled for the Cowles Cup. Teresa Wilson
Teresa Wilson is an American, former collegiate softball pitcher and head coach. She played college softball at Missouri from 1980 to 1983. For her years of eligibility in the NCAA Division I, she is the career leader in ERA and WHIP for the Tigers, which also rank top-10 in the NCAA. She served as the softball head coach at Oregon, Minnesota, Washington, and Texas Tech. She was a coach for the Carolina Diamonds and Beijing Eagles of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). Coaching career It was during her 11-year stint leading the University of Washington that she achieved her greatest coaching accomplishments. Her Huskies reached the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women's College World Series six times, making the national championship game in 1996 and 1999. Travis Wilson (softball)
Travis David Wilson (born 10 July 1977) is a current member of the Black Socks, New Zealand's national softball. He first played for the Black Socks in 1994 and was an integral part of their ISF Men's World Championship winning team in Midland, Michigan in 1996. Following this tournament Wilson was scouted by the Atlanta Braves where he played for seven seasons, most of which were spent at the Triple-A level. He was a multiple Minor League All-Star and was put on the Braves 40-man roster after leading the Arizona Fall League in hitting in 2001. Wilson finished his baseball career in 2004 with a season in the Cincinnati Reds farm system. From 2002 through 2004, Wilson also played three seasons of winter ball for the Tiburones de La Guaira and Leones del Caracas clubs of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. Lonni Alameda
Alana Maree "Lonni" Alameda (born June 11, 1970) is an American softball coach who is the current head coach at Florida State. She has been head coach at Florida State since 2009, in addition to the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch from 2016 to 2017. Alameda is also currently an assistant coach for Team Canada. Early life and education Alameda graduated from Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, California in 1988. After pitching at St. Mary's University, Texas in the 1989 season, during which St. Mary's made the NAIA Tournament, Alameda transferred to Oklahoma and went on to earn two second-team All- Big Eight awards on the softball team in addition to playing volleyball. USSSA Space Coast Complex is a baseball stadium and 13 diamond multi-sports facility in Viera, Florida, owned by Brevard County, Florida. Viera (pronounced /vjɛrə/) is an affluent, master-planned community located in the central coastal region of Brevard County, Florida. Stacey Nuveman
Stacey "Nuvey" Nuveman-Deniz (born April 26, 1978) is an American, former professional softball player and current head coach at San Diego State. She played for the UCLA Bruins at the catcher position on-and-off from 1997 to 2002, winning a National Championship in 1999. She also won two Olympic gold medals and one silver medal for Team USA. She holds the Pac-12 career records for batting average and slugging percentage; she simultaneously holds the NCAA career records for total bases and intentional walks (81).
