2018 Missouri Tigers Football Team
The 2018 Missouri Tigers football team represented the University of Missouri in the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers played their home games at Faurot Field as members of the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. They were led by third-year head coach Barry Odom. Previous season The Tigers finished the 2017 season 7–6, 4–4 in SEC play to finish in a tie for third place in the Eastern Division. They were invited to the Texas Bowl where they lost to Texas. On November 24, quarterback Drew Lock broke the SEC passing record for touchdowns in a season with 43, in a 48–45 win over Arkansas. Barry Odom
Barry Stephen Odom (born November 26, 1976) is an American football coach and currently the head coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Odom spent 15 years with the Missouri Tigers program as a player, recruiter, assistant coach, and head coach. Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, Odom and his wife Tia were married in July 2000. Tia is a native of Kahoka, Missouri, and is a graduate of MU's College of Human Environmental Sciences. The couple have three children. High school playing career Odom played high school football (linebacker and running back) at Maysville Junior/Senior High School, before transferring to Ada High School for his senior season. Terry Beckner
Terry Beckner Jr. (born March 2, 1997) is an American football defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football at Missouri. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. High school career In Beckner's final season at East St. Louis, he recorded 107 tackles and 7 sacks. He played in the 2015 Under Armour All-America Game. College career Beckner played as a true freshman at Missouri, and was named a Freshman All-American by ''Sporting News'' even though his season ended early after an MCL and ACL tear in his right knee against Brigham Young on November 14. Tucker McCann (born November 10, 1997) is an American football placekicker who is a free agent. He played college football at Missouri Tigers football, Missouri. Early life and high school A native of O'Fallon, Illinois, McCann attended O'Fallon Township High School where he was the team's starting kicker from his sophomore to senior years. Outland Trophy
The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as adjudged by the Football Writers Association of America. It is named after John H. Outland. One of only a few players ever to be named an All-American at two positions, Outland garnered consensus All-America honors in 1898 as a tackle and consensus honors as a halfback in 1899. Terez Hall (born November 18, 1996) is an American football linebacker for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Missouri. College career Hall was a member of the Missouri Tigers for four seasons. As a junior, he finished second on the team with 85 tackles and 12.5 tackles for loss with one sack. Hall was named a team captain going into his senior season and ended the year with 74 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five sacks, seven quarterback hurries and one interception. The Butkus Award, instituted in 1985 by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, is given annually to the top linebackers at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of football. The award, named in honor of College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus, is presented by the Butkus Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports a number of health and wellness activities including the "I Play Clean" anti-steroid program. Albert Chukwuemeka Okwuegbunam ( ; born April 25, 1998) is an American football tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Missouri.
