2018 Malé League
The 2018 Malé League will be the eighth season of the Malé League, the top division of Football in the Maldives, Maldivian association football, football under the latest update of the Maldivian football league system. The league was made up of the 8 clubs. Format All eight teams play against each other in Two Round Format. Team with most total points at the end of the season will be crowned as Malé League champion. Top six teams qualify for the Dhivehi Premier League. Bottom two teams play the Malé League qualification with the runner-up of Maldivian Second Division Football Tournament, Second Division. Malé League
Malé League is the official competition for football clubs in the Malé area. The top four teams qualify for Dhivehi League and bottom two teams play off against relegation with top-2 of 2nd division. Since 2001 top teams qualify for Dhivehi League with some teams from other islands. From 2007 a qualifying stage restricted to Malé does not exist anymore. In the 2017 league, top 4 team will qualify to Dhivehi Premier League and bottom 4 team will play Malé League qualifying round with top 4 team from Second Division Football Tournament, Second Division. Shafiu "Shaafee" Ahmed (born 16 March 1987) is a Maldivian footballer, who is currently playing for New Radiant SC. Shaafee is also a player of Maldives national football team. László Kiss (football Manager)
Laszlo Kiss (born September 10, 1949) is a Hungarian former footballer and manager. He managed in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, Nemzeti Bajnokság II, Dhivehi League, and the Canadian Soccer League. Managerial career After briefly playing with Veszprém KFSE, Kiss went into managing several Hungarian clubs. Some of the prominent clubs he managed in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I were Vasas SC, Debreceni VSC, Pécsi MFC, MTK Budapest FC, Kaposvári Rákóczi FC, Videoton FC. In 1996, he went overseas to coach Club Valencia of the Dhivehi League, where he had three stints with the club. In 2008, he signed with rivals VB Sports where he won the Maldives FA Cup in 2008, and the Dhivehi League in 2009. In 2012, he went to Canada to coach Astros Vasas FC of the Canadian Soccer League. Ali Ashfaq (; born 6 September 1985) is a Maldivian professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains the Maldives national team. Nicknamed "Man of Steel" (), he is regarded as one of the best players in the South Asian region. A prolific and individualistic goalscorer, he is a free-kick specialist and a clinical finisher. Óscar Bruzón Barreras (born 29 May 1977) is a retired Spanish footballer who played as either a winger or a defensive midfielder, and currently managing Bashundhara Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League. Asadhulla Abdulla (born 19 October 1990) is a Maldivian footballer who plays for Maziya.
