2018 King Cup
The 2018 King Cup, or The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, was the 43rd edition of the King Cup since its establishment in 1957, and the 11th under the current format. It started on 3 January and concluded with the final on 12 May 2018. The winner qualified for the 2019 AFC Champions League group stage. Al-Ittihad won their eighth title after a 3–1 win over Al-Faisaly in the final on 12 May 2018. Pro League side Al-Hilal were the defending champions, but they were eliminated by Al-Qadsiah in the Round of 16. It was the earliest exit by the title holders since the introduction of the new format. Participating teams A total of 32 teams participated in this season. 14 teams from the Professional league, 16 teams from the First Division, and 2 teams qualifying from the preliminary stage. Kings Cup (Saudi Arabia)
The King Cup (sometimes spelled King's), officially known as The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Cup ( ar, كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين), is the Saudi Arabian football knockout cup competition, run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The cup was created in 1957 and was played until 1990. It was re-launched again in 2007 as ''King's Cup of Champions'', and was played by only the top 6 finishers of the Professional League plus the Crown Prince Cup and Federation Cup winners. Since 2014, it was renamed as ''King's Cup'', the competition returned to its roots by implementing the old format. 153 clubs have taken part in the tournament. Al Fateh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الفتح الرياضي) is a Saudi Arabian multi-sports club based in Al-Mubarraz, Al-Ahsa. It is mainly known for its professional football club. The club derives its nickname, "Al-Namothaji" (T''he Paragon''), from the fact that almost all of the club's sports play in the national top flights. Al-Mujazzal Club
Al Mujazzal Club () is a Saudi Arabian football team based in Al Majma'ah that is currently playing in the Saudi Third Division. Their home stadium is King Salman Sport City Stadium. On 23 April 2016, Al-Mujazzal won its first ever league title winning the 2015–16 Saudi First Division and achieved their first ever promotion to the top flight league. However, on 21 July 2016, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation decided to strip them off their title and promotion due to a match fixing scandal and demoted them to last place in the 2015–16 Saudi First Division thus getting relegated to the Second Division. Al-Kawkab Football Club ( ar, نادي الكوكب) is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Al Kharj, that plays in the Prince Mohammad bin Salman League, the second tier of Saudi football. It was founded in 1968. Al-Kawkab have won Saudi First Division once and finished runners-up once. They have competed in the Saudi Professional League twice and have been relegated in each season. Prince Mohammad Bin Salman League
The First Division League (FDL for short), also called the Yelo league for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of professional football in Saudi Arabia. The First Division League is ranked below the Saudi Professional League and above the Saudi Second Division in the Saudi Arabian football league system. All of the FDL clubs qualify for the King Cup, the annual Saudi Cup competition. Al-Hazem are the most recent champions, winning their second title during the 2020–21 season. Ohod Club () is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Medina, which competes in the First Division League, the second tier of Saudi football. Ohod was named after Mount Uhud, hence the nickname "Al-Jabal". Ohod have won the Saudi First Division three times and have finished runners-up five times. They play their home games at the Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Stadium. Al-Shabab Football Club ( ar, نادي الشباب), or The Youth Football Club, in English, is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Riyadh. It was founded in 1947, and was at first named ''Shabab Al Riyadh''. (), meaning Riyadhi Youth, but in 1967 was renamed ''Al Shabab''. History Al Shabab was the First football club in Riyadh. The club began before 1947, with many conflicts before with its numerous members, but it was settled in 1947 and Abdulrahman Bin Saeed was the president.
