2018 Kehoe Cup
The 2018 Kehoe Cup was an inter-county and university hurling competition in the province of Leinster. The competition is ranked below the Walsh Cup and featured weaker teams from Leinster. Longford were the winners for the first time. Format Each team plays the other teams in its group once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. The top two teams play in the final. Longford GAA
The Longford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae an Longfort) or Longford GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Longford. The county board is also responsible for the Longford county teams. The county football team won its only National Football League title in 1966 with a one-point victory over Galway in the Home Final and an aggregate win over New York in the Final. Pearse Park is a GAA stadium in Longford, County Longford, Republic of Ireland. It is the main grounds of Longford's Gaelic football and hurling teams. In 2012, the stadium was renamed Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, due to sponsorship with Glennon Brothers, a local timber firm. The ground originally had a capacity of 18,000, however in November 2011, this was cut to 8,000 for health and safety reasons. History The grounds were formerly named Longford Park. DCU GAA
Dublin City University Gaelic Athletic Association Club ( ga, Cumann Luth Chleas Gael Ollscoil Chathair Bhaile Átha Cliath) is the GAA club at Dublin City University. The club fields teams in men's Gaelic football, hurling, ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. It also organises Gaelic handball. The 2018 Walsh Cup was an inter-county hurling competition based mainly in the Irish province of Leinster. It took place between December 2017 and January 2018. For the first time, no third-level college teams took part. 10 Leinster counties, plus Antrim, competed. Longford and Louth entered the second-ranked Kehoe Cup. Walsh Cup (hurling)
The Walsh Cup ( ga, Corn Bhreatnach) is an annual hurling competition staged in Ireland by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1954. Contested by the top county teams from the provinces of Leinster, Ulster and Connacht, the tournament consists of a round-robin group stage, followed by a knockout stage. Formerly ponsored by Bord na Móna, it was known as the "Bord na Móna Walsh Cup". Prior to 2018, third-level colleges also competed. The Walsh Cup is part of a series of GAA tournaments known as the Leinster GAA Series, along with the Kehoe Cup (second-tier hurling teams) and the O'Byrne Cup (Gaelic football).
