2018 ITU World Triathlon Series
The 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series was the 10th season of the World Triathlon Series, the top-level international series for triathlon, since its establishment in 2009. The season consisted of nine pairs of triathlon races for both a men's and women's competition, as well as three mixed relays, beginning on 2 March in Abu Dhabi, and concluding on 16 September with the grand final at the Gold Coast. Mario Mola and Flora Duffy began the season as defending champions from the 2017 season. Mola would go on to defend his title and win the men's series for the third time in as many years, becoming the second-most successful triathlete at the world triathlon series after fellow countryman Javier Gómez. Duffy's season however would be plagued by injuries, leading to an inability to defend her title despite winning two races early in the season. ITU World Triathlon Series
The World Triathlon Championship Series is World Triathlon's annual series of triathlon events used to crown an annual world champion since 2008. There are multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Athletes compete head-to-head for points in these races that will determine the overall World Triathlon champion. The elite championship races are held, with one exception, over two distances, the standard or 'Olympic' distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) and the sprint distance (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run). The ITU (the former name of World Triathlon) world champion between 1989 and 2008 had been decided in a single annual championship race. Since 2018 a mixed relay series has been run in tandem, where national teams compete in mixed team relays for prize money and Olympic qualifying points. Yokohama

Katie Zaferes
Katie Zaferes (née Hursey) is an American professional triathlete from Hampstead, Maryland. She earned a silver and bronze medal for the United States in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic triathlon held in 2021. She is also the 2019 ITU World Triathlon Series women's champion. She has placed second overall in the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series and third in the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Series. Zaferes won both the 2018 and 2019 Super League Triathlon Championship Series. She finished in 3rd position in the series in 2021. Education and early career Zaferes attended North Carroll High School in Hampstead, Maryland. Jessica Learmonth
Jessica Learmonth (born 18 April 1988) is a British triathlete. Learmonth is a European, Commonwealth and World Triathlon Series medal winner based in Leeds, England where she trains at the Leeds Triathlon Centre. She won the European Triathlon Championship in 2017 and took silver in 2018. She competed in the women's event and the mixed relay at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning silver medals in both disciplines. Learmonth won silver in the 2019 World Triathlon Series. In 2021, Learmonth won the gold medal in the triathlon mixed relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She also finished second in the 2021 Super League Triathlon Championship Series. Rachel Klamer
Rachel Klamer (born 8 October 1990) is a Dutch professional triathlete and member of the National team. She placed third at the Junior World Championships in 2009. Klamer, who presently lives in Sittard, entered the national and international stage in 2008 when she won both the National Triathlon Championships (Junior) in Aalsmeer and the Duathlon Championships (Junior) in Oss, placed 4th in the European Junior Cup at Holten, and, at the age of 17, also started to compete in the elite category, placing 10th in the British Corus Elite Series. Richard Murray (triathlete)
Richard Murray (born 4 January 1989, in Cape Town) is a Dutch/South African triathlete. Murray won the Junior ITU Duathlon World Championships in 2007 and 2008, entered the adult Tri in 2009, and was the Under-23 African champion in both triathlon and duathlon in 2010, and was the elite African triathlon champion in 2011 and 2012. He scored his first win in the ITU World Triathlon Series in Hamburg in 2012. At the 2012 Summer Olympics men's triathlon on Tuesday, 7 August, he placed 17th. Gustav Iden (born 1 May 1996) is a professional Norwegian triathlete. He is a 2022 Ironman World champion and he is a two-time winner of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, winning in 2019 and 2021. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, Iden placed 8th in the men's triathlon. Kristian Blummenfelt
Kristian Blummenfelt (born 14 February 1994) is a Norwegian triathlete and Olympic and World Champion Gold medalist, competing at short course (sprint and standard distance), 70.3 (half-Ironman) and 140.6 (Ironman) distances. Vincent Luis (born 27 June 1989 in Vesoul, France) is a French professional triathlon, triathlete. Besides his many World_Triathlon_Series, WTS wins and participations to the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, he won the ITU World Triathlon Series, ITU World Championship in 2019 and 2020, and the Mixed Relay Team World Championship with the French national team in 2015, 2018 and 2019.
