2018 Faroe Islands Cup
The 2018 Faroe Islands Cup was the 64th edition of Faroe Islands domestic football cup. The competition started on 25 April and ended with the final on 25 August. NSÍ were the defending champions, having won their third cup title the previous year, but were upset in the first round by eventual semifinalists AB, becoming the first defending champion since 1992 to be knocked out in the first stage. B36 won the cup for the 6th time and qualified for the Preliminary round of the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League. Only the first teams of Faroese football clubs were allowed to participate. Teams from all divisions entered the competition in the first round. MB withdrew the competition. As a result, one team would advance directly to the quarterfinals. B36 Tórshavn
B36 Tórshavn ( fo, Bóltfelagið 1936 Tórshavn) is a Faroe Islands, Faroese semi professional Association football, football club based in the capital of Tórshavn, playing in the Faroe Islands Premier League, the top tier of Faroese football. B36 Tórshavn has always played its home games in Gundadalur. Originally all Faroese football teams played on gravel grounds, but starting in the late 1980s the grounds were changed into second generation artificial turf. All the artificial pitches have been changed into third generation artificial turf, approved by FIFA. Today B36 Tórshavn is among the most successful football clubs in the Faroe Islands, having won the Faroe Islands Premier League 11 times, the Faroe Islands Cup, Faroese Cup 6 times and the Faroe Islands Super Cup, Faroese Super Cup once. TB/FC Suðuroy/Royn
TB/FC Suðuroy/Royn was a Faroese football club based in Trongisvágur. The team was a result of a merger between all three clubs from the island of Suðuroy: Tvøroyrar Bóltfelag, FC Suðuroy and Royn Hvalba. The agreement about the merger was so late that there was not enough time to find a new name and identity for the club, so the name was a combination of all three names of the clubs. The name was too long to use, so the media started to use the word ''Suðuroyarliðið'' instead, which means ''The team from Suðuroy'' and the supporters and the chairmen had agreed upon using the word ''Suðringar'', which means ''People of Suðuroy''. Western European Summer Time (WEST, UTC+01:00) is a summer daylight saving time scheme, 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and Coordinated Universal Time. Faroe Islands Premier League
The Faroe Islands Premier League (also known as ''Betri deildin menn'' for sponsorship reasons) is the top level of football in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1942 as Meistaradeildin, and it is played in current format since 2005, when Premier League replaced 1. deild as the country's top football division. The league is organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association. It is contested by 10 clubs. At the end of every season, two teams are relegated and two promoted from 1. deild. All teams in the league have semi-professional status. As of April 2022, the Faroe Islands Premier League is ranked 44th out of 55 leagues in the UEFA coefficient. Tórshavn
Tórshavn (; lit. "Thor's harbour"), usually locally referred to as simply ''Havn'', is the capital and largest city of the Faroe Islands. It is located in the southern part on the east coast of Streymoy. To the northwest of the city lies the mountain Húsareyn, and to the southwest, the Kirkjubøreyn. They are separated by the Sandá River. The city itself has a population of 13,957 (2022), and the greater urban area has a population of 21,078, including the suburbs of Hoyvik and Argir. The Norse (Scandinavians) established their parliament on the Tinganes peninsula in AD 850. Tórshavn thus became the capital of the Faroe Islands and has remained so ever since. Tórsvøllur
Tórsvøllur is a football stadium on the sport site of Gundadalur in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. The stadium holds 5,000 people, and was built in 1999 to become the country's national stadium to provide an artificial grass surface on which international football matches could be played. Previously, the Faroe Islands national team played its home matches in the town of Toftir at Svangaskarð stadium. In August 2011, floodlights were introduced; these were first officially used for the football match between Faroe Islands and Italy on 2 September 2011. Undrið FF is a Faroese football team from the Faroese capital Tórshavn. The team also plays at the Hoyvíkvøllur. The club was founded 18 January 2006, under the name ''Undrið FF''. This makes the team one of the youngest member of the Faroe Islands Football Association. History The idea to found the new football team began with a birthday party in 2005. In the 2021 season, the team cruise-controlled through the season, gaining promotion to the 1. Deild for the first time in the club's history. Ítróttarfelag Fuglafjarðar, abbreviated to ÍF, is a Faroe Islands, Faroese association football, football club based in Fuglafjørður. They play their home games at Í Fløtugerði.
