2018 FIBA U16 European Championship
The 2018 FIBA U16 European Championship was the 32nd edition of the Under-16 European Basketball Championship. The competition took place from 10 to 18 August 2018 in Novi Sad, Serbia. Sixteen (16) teams are participating, including 2017 Division B top three finishers. The defending champions were France. FIBA Europe is the administrative body for basketball in Europe, within the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), which includes all 50 national European basketball federations. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIBA Europe mandated that no official basketball competitions are to be held in either Russia or Belarus, while the teams of the Russian Basketball Federation and of the Belarusian Basketball Federation are being withdrawn from national team competitions and from the club competition season 2022-23. Alperen Şengün (born 25 July 2002) is a Turkish professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also represents the senior Turkish national team. He is widely considered to be one of the best Turkish-born prospects in the league, having won the Turkish League MVP award in 2021. Boris Tišma (born 20 February 2002) is a Croatian professional basketball player for Split of the Croatian League and ABA League Early life and youth career Tišma grew up playing basketball for Croatian club Dubrava. In 2015, he signed with Real Madrid in Spain and joined its youth academy. He chose Real Madrid over offers from many other clubs, including Cedevita.
