Rudolfinum
The Rudolfinum is a building in Prague, Czech Republic. It is designed in the neo-renaissance style and is situated on Jan Palach Square on the bank of the river Vltava. Since its opening in 1885, it has been associated with music and art. Currently, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Galerie Rudolfinum are based in the building. Its largest music auditorium, Dvořák Hall, is one of the main venues of the Prague Spring International Music Festival and is noted for its excellent acoustics. Uses The Rudolfinum has been the home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra since 1946 and is one of the main venues of the Prague Spring International Music Festival held each year in May and June. The building was designed by architect Josef Zítek and his student Josef Schulz, and was opened on 8 February 1885. Jan Švankmajer
Jan Švankmajer (; born 4 September 1934) is a Czech filmmaker and artist whose work spans several media. He is a self-labeled surrealist known for his stop-motion animations and features, which have greatly influenced other artists such as Terry Gilliam, the Brothers Quay, and many others. Life and career Early life Švankmajer was born in Prague. An early influence on his later artistic development was a puppet theatre he was given for Christmas as a child. He studied at the College of Applied Arts in Prague and later in the Department of Puppetry at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts, where he befriended Juraj Herz. He contributed to Emil Radok's film ''Johanes doctor Faust'' in 1958 and then began working for Prague's Semafor Theatre where he founded the Theatre of Masks. Kateřina Winterová
Kateřina Winterová (born 12 February 1976) is a Czech actress, permanent member of the National Theatre in Prague, and vocalist for the band The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa. Life and career Childhood, studies, and theatre Winterová was born in Benešov and spent her childhood in Mělník. From 1990 to 1996, she attended the musical drama department at the Prague Conservatory. During her studies, she performed at the Divadlo pod Palmovkou theatre. From 1996 to 1998, she appeared as a guest at the Klicperovo divadlo theatre in Hradec Králové and at the National Theatre in Prague. Since 1998, she has been a permanent member there. Jiří Macháček
Jiří Macháček (born 6 July 1966 in Litoměřice) is a Czech actor and singer. Education Macháček graduated from high school in Prague before attending Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, the Law Faculty at Charles University in Prague, and the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts. Career Macháček performed with several Czech theaters including the Theatre on the Balustrade (Divadlo Na zábradlí), Divadlo Sklep, and Divadlo Na Jezerce. His first major film role, in Saša Gedeon's comedy '' Return of the Idiot'' (1999), was followed by a prominent role in David Ondricek's '' Samotáři'' (Loners) in 2000, for which he won the Czech Lion for Best Supporting Actor. Martin Huba (born 16 July 1943 in Bratislava) is a Slovak actor and director on stage and in film. In 1964 he graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU).
