2018 Colorado Attorney General Election
The 2018 Colorado Attorney General election took place on November 6, 2018, to elect the attorney general of Colorado. Incumbent Republican Cynthia Coffman did not run for re-election, instead opting to run for Governor. The Democratic Party nominated Phil Weiser, who subsequently defeated Republican nominee George Brauchler in the general election. Republican primary Arapahoe County District Attorney George Brauchler won the Republican nomination unopposed. Democratic primary Convention results Phil Weiser and Joe Salazar qualified for the Democratic primary ballot. Attorney Amy Padden did not qualify. Primary results Former Dean of the University of Colorado Law School Phil Weiser defeated State Representative Joe Salazar. Libertarian nomination Attorney William F. The Colorado Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Colorado. Morgan Carroll serves as its chair. 2018 Colorado Elections
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Colorado on November 6, 2018. All of Colorado's executive offices and all seven of its seats in the United States House of Representatives were up for election. Democrats swept the statewide offices up for election, leaving the Class 2 U.S. Senate seat as the last statewide office held by a Republican. Governor and lieutenant governor Incumbent Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper was term-limited. Joseph A. Salazar (born 1971/72) is a former Democratic member of the Colorado House of Representatives, serving from 2013 to early 2019. Salazar previously worked as an attorney with Smith, Shelton, Ragona and Salazar, LLC. He focused on employment law, civil rights, and constitutional law. Currently, he is the director of Colorado Rising, an anti-fracking pressure group.
