2018 British Athletics Championships
The 2018 British Athletics Championships was the national championship in outdoor track and field for athletes in the United Kingdom, held from 3–5 July 2018 at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. It was organised by UK Athletics. A full range of outdoor events were held up to 5000 metres. The competition served as the main selection event for the 2018 European Athletics Championships and the 2018 Athletics World Cup The 2018 Athletics World Cup was held in London, United Kingdom, from 14 to 15 July 2018. Leon Reid
Leon Reid (born 26 July 1994) is a former British-Irish track and field sprinter. He won the bronze medal in the 200 metres at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Northern Ireland's first athletics medal in 28 years, and silver in the event at the 2013 European Under-23 Championships. Reid took silver in the 200 m at the 2013 European U20 Championships. He won five Irish national titles (mostly for the 200 m). Andy Pozzi
Andrew William Pozzi (born 15 May 1992) is a British hurdling athlete. He was the 2018 indoor World Champion at 60 metres hurdles. He was the 2012 UK 60m and 110m Champion and holds the record for the fastest ever time run by a UK junior hurdler. The record time, 13.29 seconds, was set on 3 July 2011 in Mannheim, Germany at the Bauhaus Junior Gala. Pozzi is coached by Malcolm Arnold, the former coach of Olympic silver medalist and two-time World Championship gold medalist Colin Jackson and 400m Olympic gold medalist John Akii-Bua. Chris Thompson (runner)
Christopher Thompson (born 17 April 1981) is a British long-distance runner, who won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona, on 27 July 2010 behind his compatriot Mo Farah. Prior to his 2010 medal win he had won the European U23 5000 m Championship in 2003. However he was initially unable to build on this victory, as he had substantial injury problems for a number of years. He is currently coached by Alan Storey. Thompson ran at the 2010 Great Yorkshire Run in September and came close to victory, but was edged out by a second by Australian Craig Mottram. Andy Vernon
Andrew James Vernon (born 7 January 1986) is a British long-distance runner who specialised in the 5000 metres, the 10,000metres on track and cross country running. After the 2018 commonwealth games and started to concentrate on the roads winning Manchester Half Marathon with the aim of doing a full marathon in 2019. Vernon competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's 10,000metres. He has also competed in two Commonwealth Games, a World Indoor Championship and six World Cross Country Championships. Vernon is a two-time European Athletics Championship medallist and a Summer Universiade gold medallist. He currently competes for Aldershot, Farnham & District AC. Marc Scott
Marc Scott (born 21 December 1993) is a British long-distance runner. He took his first global medal with bronze in the 3000 metres at the 2022 World Indoor Championships. He is the current European record holder in the indoor 5000 metres and the British record holder for the road 5 km. Scott represented Great Britain in the 5000 metres at the 2017 (London) and the 2019 (Doha) World Athletics Championships and at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Neil Gourley
Neil Gourley (born 7 February 1995) is a Scottish middle-distance runner specialising in the 1500 metres. He won the silver medal in the event at the 2023 European Indoor Championships and bronze at the 2015 European Under-23 Championships. Gourley is the European indoor record holder for the mile and the British indoor record holder for the 1500 m. He is a three-time national champion (1500 m). Career Neil Gourley won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 2015 European Under-23 Championships. Jake Wightman
Jake Wightman (born 11 July 1994) is a British middle-distance runner competing primarily in the 1500 metres. He won the gold medal at the 2022 World Championships, the first global gold in a middle distance event for a British male since Seb Coe's 1500 m title at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. At the European Athletics Championships, Wightman earned a bronze in 2018 and a silver for the 800 metres in 2022. He took bronze medal at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games. Chris O'Hare
Chris O'Hare (born 23 November 1990) is a Scottish middle-distance runner who competes in the 1500 metres. He has represented Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games. Personal life O'Hare was born and brought up in West Linton and attended Peebles High School. He subsequently completed a degree in sports science at the University of Tulsa in the United States, together with his sister Olivia. Guy Learmonth
Guy Learmonth (born 20 April 1992 in Berwick-upon-Tweed) is a Scottish and Great British athlete specialising in the 800 metres. His PB currently stands as 1:44.73 and he is the 3rd fastest Scottish 800m athlete of all time. Learmonth reached the final at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 European Indoor Championships, finishing 6th in both. Elliot Giles (born 26 May 1994) is an English middle-distance runner from Birmingham, specialising in the 800 metres. He is best known for winning the bronze at the 2016 European Championships. Career In August 2014, he had a serious motorcycle accident which prevented him from competing for two years. His breakthrough year was 2016 when he became British champion over the distance, and was selected for the senior GB team for the first time at the European Athletics Championships where he won a surprise bronze medal.
