2018 Blind Cricket World Cup
The 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup was the fifth Blind Cricket World Cup tournament, and was held from 8–20 January 2018 in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. In the final, defending champions India defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets to secure their 2nd Blind Cricket World Cup title under the captaincy of Ajay Kumar Reddy. Six teams, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia and Nepal played in the tournament, with Nepal making their first ever appearance. India played all of their group stage matches of the tournament at neutral venues in the United Arab Emirates, after the foreign ministry of India blocked them from travelling to Pakistan. It was later revealed that the Cricket Association for the Blind in India and Pakistan Blind Cricket Council had agreed to shift the Indian matches to the UAE. Gaddafi Stadium ( ur, , translit=Qaẕẕāfī Isṭeḍiyam), previously known as Lahore Stadium is a cricket stadium in Lahore, Pakistan and the home ground of Lahore Qalandars. It is owned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). With a capacity of 27,000, it is the fourth largest cricket stadium of Pakistan. Gaddafi Stadium was the first in Pakistan to be equipped with modern floodlights having their own standby power generators. 2017 Blind T20 World Cup
The 2017 Blind World T20 also known as 2017 Blind T20 World Cup was a T20I tournament which was also the second edition of the Blind T20 World Cup for blind cricketers, held in India from 30 January to 12 February. India defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets in the finals to win their second Blind T20 World Cup. Ten teams, hosts India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh, West Indies, South Africa, Nepal, Australia and New Zealand took part, playing in 48 matches. Hosting the T20 World Cup for the Blind for the second time after the inaugural edition in 2012, India were the defending champions and were the favourites to win the title. Deepak Malik (born 1995) is an Indian blind cricketer categorised in B3 division who is currently playing for India national blind cricket team. Biography Deepak Malik was born in the Bhainswal village in the Haryana state in 1995. He was a normal kid who went to school regularly until the age of 8. At the age of 8 in 2004, during the Diwali day he lost his eyesight completely after bursting the firecrackers by mistakenly on to his eyes. After the accident, Deepak went onto study at a blind school in Delhi. Career He has been a member of the national team since playing for India at the 2014 Blind Cricket World Cup. Suranga Sampath is a Sri Lankan blind cricketer. He was part of the Sri Lankan team during the 2017 ICC World T20 for the Blind. In the 2017 Blind T20 World Cup, he was the top scorer throughout the tournament with an aggregate of 733 runs with an average of excess 150. He also scored 5 centuries during the tournament, the most by any player in a single Blind T20 World Cup series; thus becoming the only batsman to score 5 centuries in a single edition of a Blind T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka National Blind Cricket Team represents Sri Lanka at blind cricket. The Sri Lankan team have participated in every edition of the World Cup for Blind. It is run by the Sri Lanka Cricket Association of the Visually Handicapped. The team generally participates in One Day Internationals and T20Is. In the inaugural edition of the ICC Blind Cricket World T20 held in 2012 in India, Sri Lanka finished third after losing to India in the semi-finals. Nepal National Blind Cricket Team
Nepal national blind cricket team represents Nepal at blind cricket. The team has been run and governed by the Cricket Association for the Blind in Nepal (CAB NEP). Nepal blind cricket team made its first appearance in a Blind T20 World Cup tournament during the 2017 Blind T20 World Cup. In the 2017 Blind T20 World Cup, Nepal cricket team managed to beat South Africa and New Zealand. The Ajman Oval is a cricket ground in Ajman, UAE. Oval provides outdoor pitches. The ground is privately owned and first of its kind in the northern region. It was the first turf ground in Ajman with approval from the Ajman Cricket Council and has four turf wickets, a green outfield with the pavilion designed to give it the Arabian style structure.
