The 2018 Arizona Wildcats baseball team represented the University of Arizona in the 2018 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Wildcats played their home games for the 7th season at Hi Corbett Field. Jay Johnson (baseball Coach)
Jay Bradley Johnson (born April 20, 1977) is an American baseball coach and former second baseman, who is the current head baseball coach of the LSU Tigers baseball, LSU Tigers. He played college baseball at Shasta College, Shasta from 1997 to 1998 before transferring to Point Loma Nazarene Sea Lions, Point Loma Nazarene. He then served as the head coach of the Point Loma Nazarene Sea Lions (2005), Nevada Wolf Pack baseball, Nevada (2014–2015) and the Arizona Wildcats baseball, Arizona Wildcats (2016–2021). Education Born and raised in Oroville, California, Johnson graduated from Oroville High School in 1995 and began his college baseball career at Shasta College, a junior college in Redding, California, in 1997. A third baseman, abbreviated 3B, is the player in baseball or softball whose responsibility is to defend the area nearest to third base — the third of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. San Diego Toreros Baseball
The San Diego Toreros baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of the University of San Diego, located in San Diego, California, United States. The program has been a member of the NCAA Division I West Coast Conference since prior to the 1985 season. Since 2013, its home venue has been Fowler Park, located on the University of San Diego campus. Rich Hill was the program's head coach from 1999 until 2021. As of the end of the 2012 season, the team has appeared in seven NCAA Tournaments, all since 2002. Michigan Wolverines Baseball
The Michigan Wolverines baseball team represents the University of Michigan in NCAA Division I college baseball. Along with most other Michigan athletic teams, the baseball team participates in the Big Ten Conference. They play their home games at Ray Fisher Stadium. The Wolverines have made the College World Series eight times, winning two national championships in 1953 and 1962. Michigan is the third winningest program in NCAA Division I baseball history, trailing only Fordham and Texas. Tony Gwynn Stadium
Tony Gwynn Stadium is the home field of the San Diego State University Aztecs college baseball team. In addition, the San Diego Surf Dawgs of the independent Golden Baseball League used the park as their home field. Stadium history The original stadium was named Smith Field in honor of Charlie Smith, the longtime San Diego State head baseball coach. The stadium was demolished and rebuilt in 1997 at a cost of $4 million, funded largely thanks to a donation by John Moores, then owner of the San Diego Padres. The renovated stadium was named in honor of Tony Gwynn, a Hall of Fame superstar for the Padres. The playing field is still known as Charlie Smith Field. As an undergraduate Gwynn played both baseball and basketball for the SDSU Aztecs. He became SDSU's head baseball coach after he retired from the Padres. The Bryant Bulldogs baseball team is the NCAA division 1 varsity College baseball, intercollegiate baseball team of Bryant University, located in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Shortstop
Shortstop, abbreviated SS, is the baseball or softball fielding position between second and third base, which is considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Historically the position was assigned to defensive specialists who were typically poor at batting and were often placed at the bottom of the batting order. Today, shortstops are often able to hit well and many are placed at the top of the lineup. In the numbering system used by scorers to record defensive plays, the shortstop is assigned the number 6.
