2017–18 Women's Volleyball Thailand League
The 2017–18 Women's Volleyball Thailand League was the 13th season of the Thai League, the top Thai professional league for association volleyball clubs, since its establishment in 2005. Eight teams competed in the league. The season started on 4 September 2017. Women's Volleyball Thailand League
The Women's Volleyball Thailand League ( th, วอลเลย์บอลหญิงไทยแลนด์ลีก) is the top-level professional women's volleyball league in Thailand. Contested by eight clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Volleyball Pro Challenge League. Seasons run from October to March, with teams playing 14 games each. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played on weekdays. It is organized by the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA). The league champion qualifies for the Asian Club Championship. The league is recognized by the TVA, the FIVB, and the AVC. The league maintains strong ties with international volleyball governing bodies, adhering to the rules and regulations set by the FIVB and the AVC. Patcharee Sangmuang ( th, พัชรี แสงเมือง; ; born 20 March 1978, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand) is the captain of the Thai women's national volleyball team, who made her international debut in the 13th Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand. Her nickname is Toy ( th, ต๋อย; ) Career Patcharee played with the Filipino team Adamson Lady Falcons in 2014 and with Thai club Maejo Cosmo Chiangrai in the 2015–16 season. Boon Rawd Brewery ( th, บริษัท บุญรอดบริวเวอรี่ จำกัด) is a well-known Thai brewery founded in 1933 by Phraya Bhirom Bhakdi (Boonrawd Sreshthaputra). It also produces soft drinks and bottled drinking water. Their best-known product is the pale lager Singha. History Boon Rawd Brewery was the first to open in Thailand and produces its beer under the brand name of Singha. It was founded in the early 1930s by Boonrawd Sreshthaputra, who had received the title of Phraya Bhirom Bhakdi from HM King Prajadhipok. The brewery remains under the management of his descendants, who use Bhirom Bhakdi as their family name. The Singha is an Asian lion, but in both Hindu and Thai traditional tales, it is a powerful mythological creature. It was chosen because it is an easily recognizable symbol. Pleumjit Thinkaow ( th, ปลื้มจิตร์ ถินขาว; ; born 9 November 1983) is a Thai volleyball player. She was a member of the Thailand women's national volleyball team. Her international debut was at the 21st SEA Games in Malaysia. Personal life Pleumjit grew up in a sport-loving family in Angthong (a province about 100 km. north of Bangkok), having an elder brother. Her parents are civil servants. Before she started playing volleyball, she had been rather into table tennis. She switched to volleyball following her father's advice that volleyball was more fun and more likely to become popular. Afterwards, a volleyball coach of Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School in Bangkok was so impressed by her playing that he brought her to the school during her high-school level.
