2017–18 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup
The 2017–18 Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup was a season long cyclo-cross competition, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup took place between 17 September 2017 and 28 January 2018, over a total of nine events. The defending champions were Wout van Aert in the men's competition and Sophie de Boer in the women's competition. Both elite titles were won at the penultimate round of the season at Nommay. Despite finishing twelfth in the race, Sanne Cant won the women's title after her closest rival Kaitlin Keough finished the Nommay race in second behind compatriot Katie Compton. Cant was the only female rider to win more than once, winning five times during the season. Other races were won by Kateřina Nash, Maud Kaptheijns and Evie Richards, who became the first under-23 woman to win an elite race, when she won at Namur. UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup
The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup is a season-long competition in cyclo-cross, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). First held in the 1993–1994 season, there are currently five awards, tailored to the different categories of riders: Men Elite, Women Elite, Men Under 23, Women Under 23, and Men Junior. The World Cup is not to be confused with the World Championship, also organised by the UCI, which is a single one day race that awards the winner with a rainbow jersey to be worn in every race till the next World Championship. Typically the World Championships are held a week or two after the end of the World Cup at the end of January or early February. In November 2014 the first round of the World Cup ever to take place outside mainland Europe was held in Milton Keynes, England. The Cyclo-cross Namur, also called the Citadelcross, is a cyclo-cross race in Namur, Belgium. The track is on the hills around the citadel there. Jingle Cross
The Jingle Cross Cyclo-cross festival, also known as Jingle Cross, is a cyclo-cross race held annually in Iowa City, Iowa, and founded and directed by John Meehan. It began as a small grassroots race with a single day race in 2004 and 60 competitors and expanded to two days in 2006. The 2007 edition was the first year with UCI events and expanded to 3 days in 2009 adding night time racing. Jingle Cross upgraded to a UCI C1 event in 2010 and soon became the largest cyclo-cross festival in North America. Jingle Cross was part of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup from 2016 to 2019.. The 2020 edition of Jingle Cross was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jingle Cross is known for its challenging and holiday themed course. UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships
The UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships are the world championships for cyclo-cross organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Starting in 2020, six events are organized each year – men's elite, women's elite, men's under 23, women's under 23, men's under 18 (Men's Juniors), and women's under 18 (Women's Juniors). Traditionally, the elite events are held on a Sunday with the other events held on the Saturday the day before. The UCI awards a gold medal and a rainbow jersey to the winner. Silver and bronze medals are awarded to the second and third place contestants. World champions wear their rainbow jersey until the following year's championship, but they may wear it only in the type of event in which they won it. The Cauberg Cyclo-cross is a cyclo-cross race held in Valkenburg, Netherlands. This race is up and around the famous Cauberg, which is the final of the Amstel Gold Race. Former World Champion Adrie van der Poel designed the parcours and its variations. The Memorial Romano Scotti is a cyclo-cross race held in Rome, Italy. Its first edition was on 9 January 2011 as the Italian National Cyclo-cross Championships, Italian National Championship. It was held a second time in December of that year. Since the 2012–2013 season, it is part of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. The event is named after Italian cyclist Romano Scotti. CrossVegas, known in 2018 as RenoCross, is a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) sanctioned Cyclo-cross race that takes place in Las Vegas on a Wednesday evening in September after the first full day of the Interbike trade show. History CrossVegas started in 2007. The night-time race takes place under the lights in September each year at the Desert Breeze Park, just minutes from the famous Las Vegas Strip. As the first UCI Cyclocross World Cup race of the season, the race course includes many unique features not found in other cyclocross races, including a "ramp" providing a curved velodrome banking. Other course features include 4 sets of stairs, 1 set of barrier (planks), a sand pit and 2 flyovers. The Circuit Zolder, also known as Circuit Terlamen, is an undulating motorsport race track in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. History Built in 1963, Zolder hosted the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix on 10 separate occasions in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1980 Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix. F1 moved to Zolder in 1973 and with the exception of a race at Nivelles-Baulers in 1974, Zolder was the location of the Belgian Grand Prix until 1982.
