2017–18 Slovenian Second League
The 2017–18 Slovenian Second League season was the 27th edition of the Slovenian Second League. The season began on 4 August 2017 and ended on 26 May 2018. Competition format Each team played a total of 30 matches (15 home and 15 away). Teams played two matches against each other (one home and one away). Teams On 29 June 2016, the Football Association of Slovenia decided to expand the Second League from 10 to 16 teams for the 2017–18 season. The key for the 16 teams contesting the league was: *1 relegated team from the 2016–17 Slovenian PrvaLiga *7 teams ranked second to eighth in the 2016–17 Slovenian Second League *The best two teams from each of the four groups in the 2016–17 Slovenian Third League, for a total of 8 teams. NŠ Mura
Nogometna šola Mura ( en, Mura Football School), commonly referred to as NŠ Mura or simply Mura, is a Slovenian football team, playing in the town of Murska Sobota. Founded in 2012, the team currently plays in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, the top tier of Slovenian football. The club's home ground is Fazanerija City Stadium with a capacity of 4,506 seats. The club started competing in the fourth tier of Slovenian football in 2013, and was promoted to the top flight by 2018. In 2020, Mura won its first major trophy after winning the Slovenian national cup. A year later, they became the champions of the Slovenian top division. Ptuj
Ptuj (; german: Pettau, ; la, Poetovium/Poetovio) is a town in northeastern Slovenia that is the seat of the Municipality of Ptuj. Ptuj, the oldest recorded city in Slovenia, has been inhabited since the late Stone Age and developed from a Roman military fort. Ptuj was located at a strategically important crossing of the Drava River, along a prehistoric trade route between the Baltic Sea and the Adriatic. Nogometni klub Dob ( en, Dob Football Club), currently named Roltek Dob due to sponsorship reasons, is a Slovenian football club based in the town of Dob near Domžale. They competes in the Slovenian Second League. The club was founded in 1961. Stadium Dob plays at the Dob Sports Park ( sl, Športni park Dob), which is located in Dob. The stadium has a seating capacity for 300 spectators. Dob Sports Park includes the main stadium and a training field with natural grass. There is also one smaller field for younger selections, covered with artificial turf. In 2014, the stadium was partially renovated, as it received another training field and the fence around the main field was replaced. Brežice
Brežice (; german: Rann ) is a town in eastern Slovenia in the Lower Sava Valley, near the Croatian border. It is the seat of the Municipality of Brežice. Dobrovo (; it, Castel Dobra) is a settlement the Littoral region of Slovenia, close to the border with Italy. It is the administrative centre of the Municipality of Brda. 2016–17 Slovenian Third League
The 2016–17 Slovenian Third League began on 20 August 2016 and ended on 28 May 2017. Competition format and rules The 2016–17 Slovenian Third League was divided into four regional groups with a total of 52 participating clubs. Three groups (i.e. North, Centre, East) were composed of 14 clubs, while the West group had only 10 clubs participating in the competition. On 29 June 2016, the Football Association of Slovenia decided to expand the Slovenian Second League in the 2017–18 season from 10 teams to 16 teams, meaning that in the 2016–17 Slovenian Third League season the top two teams from each group got promoted to the Second League. Also, unlike previous seasons, reserve teams were now able to earn a promotion to the Second League. The 2016–17 Slovenian PrvaLiga (also known as the Prva liga Telekom Slovenije for sponsorship reasons) was the 26th edition of the Slovenian PrvaLiga since its establishment in 1991.
