2017–18 Saudi Second Division
The 2017–18 Saudi Second Division was the 42nd season of the Saudi Second Division since its establishment in 1976. The season featured 13 teams from the 2016–17 campaign, three new teams relegated from the 2016–17 First Division: Al-Adalh, Al-Jeel and Wej, and four new teams promoted from the 2016–17 Third Division: Al-Kholood as champions, Al-Hejaz as runners-up, Al-Taqadom as third place and Al-Jubail as fourth place. The league began on 19 October 2017 and ended on 17 March 2018. Team changes The following teams have changed division since the 2016–17 season. Saudi Second Division
The Saudi Second Division , also known as the Second Division League (SDL), is a football league that is the third tier of the Saudi Arabian football league system. The league consists of 32 teams divided into two groups and was founded in 1996. Promotion and relegation The top 3 teams are promoted to the First Division League. The first two teams of each group will advance directly to the First Division League, and the second two teams of each group will compete in two round-trip matches, and the winning team will advance to the First Division League as the third team. The bottom two clubs of each group are relegated to the Third Division League. Al-Mujazzal Club
Al Mujazzal Club () is a Saudi Arabian football team based in Al Majma'ah that is currently playing in the Saudi Third Division. Their home stadium is King Salman Sport City Stadium. On 23 April 2016, Al-Mujazzal won its first ever league title winning the 2015–16 Saudi First Division and achieved their first ever promotion to the top flight league. However, on 21 July 2016, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation decided to strip them off their title and promotion due to a match fixing scandal and demoted them to last place in the 2015–16 Saudi First Division thus getting relegated to the Second Division. Al-Kawkab FC
Al-Kawkab Football Club ( ar, نادي الكوكب) is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Al Kharj, that plays in the Prince Mohammad bin Salman League, the second tier of Saudi football. It was founded in 1968. Al-Kawkab have won Saudi First Division once and finished runners-up once. They have competed in the Saudi Professional League twice and have been relegated in each season. The 2017–18 Prince Mohammad bin Salman League was the 1st season of the Prince Mohammad bin Salman League under its current name, and 41st season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 12 September 2017 and concluded on 18 April 2018. Overview First Division rebranding On 19 September 2017, the General Sports Authority announced a rebrand; beginning with the 2017–18 season, the competition was known as the Prince Faisal bin Fahd League. As part of the rebranding, a new logo was introduced. On 9 February 2018, the General Sports Authority once again announced a rebrand; starting from the current season, the competition will be known as the Prince Mohammad bin Salman League. The Saudi Third Division , also known as the Saudi League 3rd Division, is a football league, the fourth tier of the Saudi Arabian football league system. 2016–17 Saudi First Division was the 40th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 11 August 2016 and concluded on 5 May 2017. Teams A total of 16 teams are contesting the league, including 11 sides from the 2015–16 season, two relegated from the 2015–16 Saudi Professional League and three promoted from the 2015–16 Saudi Second Division. The 2018–19 Saudi Second Division was the 43rd season of the Saudi Second Division since its establishment in 1996. Fixtures were released on 4 September 2018 and the opening round of matches was played on 19 October 2018. The league season ended on 13 April 2019 with the final. On 13 April 2019, Hetten defeated Al-Bukayriyah 1–0 in the final to win their first title.
