2017–18 Santosh Trophy
The 2017–18 Santosh Trophy was the 72nd edition of the Santosh Trophy, the premier competition in India for teams representing their regional and state football associations. The competition began with qualifiers on 8 January 2018 and concluded with the final on 1 April 2018. Kerala won the competition, their sixth championship, by defeating West Bengal during the final in penalties 4–2. West Bengal were the defending champions, having defeated Goa in the final during the 2016–17 season. The entire tournament took place in Kolkata. Kerala Football Team
The Kerala football team (Malayalam: കേരള ഫുട്ബോൾ ടീം) is an Indian state level football team representing Kerala in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. They have appeared in the Santosh Trophy finals 15 times, and have won the trophy 7 times. Kerala last won the Santhosh Trophy in 2022 by defeating Bengal in the final on 2 May at the Payyanadu Stadium in Malappuram. The Kerala team was captained by Jijo Joseph under head coach Bino George, being unbeaten during the tournament. A single-elimination, knockout, or sudden death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. The Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK; ), commonly known as the Salt Lake Stadium, is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium located in Bidhannagar, with current capacity of 85,000 spectators. Named after Swami Vivekananda, the stadium forms the home ground for multiple football clubs, most notably ATK Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan. Ankit Mukherjee (born 10 July 1996) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Indian Super League club Chennaiyin. Career Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, Mukherjee started his football career with Army Public School, Calcutta. In 2013, Mukherjee represented the school's football side in the Keventer Cup. Tirthankar Sarkar (born 1 July 1993 in Kolkata, West Bengal) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Diamond Harbour FC in the Calcutta Football League. Mohun Bagan Ground
Mohun Bagan Ground, also known as Mohun Bagan–Calcutta FC Ground, is a football stadium located in the maidan region of central Kolkata, just opposite the Eden Gardens. The stadium is leased to Mohun Bagan AC and is mostly used as training ground of ATK Mohun Bagan FC. The stadium has a capacity of 22,000 spectators.
