2017–18 Reading F.C. Season
The 2017–18 season was Reading's 147th year in existence and fifth consecutive season in the Championship, and covers the period from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018. Season review Pre-season On 31 May, Reading announced that they would be returning to the Netherlands for a 10-day training camp. On 6 June, Reading announced that they would host two behind-doors friendlies with QPR at the club's Hogwood Park training facility, with the fixtures taking place on 8 July. On 16 June 2017, Reading were given a home tie against League One side Gillingham in the EFL Cup first-round draw. In the following days, it was announced that the match would take place on 8 August. For the second year in a row, Reading accepted the invitation to enter their Category One academy into the EFL Trophy. The Eredivisie (; ''"Honour Division"'' or ''"Premier Division"'') is the highest level of professional football in the Netherlands. The Süper Lig (, ''Super League''), officially known as Spor Toto Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons, is a Turkish professional league for association football clubs. It is the top-flight of the Turkish football league system and is run by the Turkish Football Federation. In the 2022–23 season, nineteen clubs compete, where a champion is decided and three clubs are promoted from, and relegated to the 1. Lig. The Belgian Pro League,(officially the Jupiler Pro League due to sponsorship reasons with Jupiler), is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Christopher Ross Gunter (born 21 July 1989) is a Wales, Welsh Association football, footballer who plays as a Defender (association football), defender for AFC Wimbledon and the Wales national football team, Wales national team. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. Nigel Howe (born 7 April 1958) is a British property developer, and former CEO and now property projects manager at Reading Football Club, who compete in EFL League One, the third level of the English football league system. Said Bakkati
Said Bakkati ( ar, سعيد بقّاتي; born 23 March 1982) is a Dutch former footballer of Moroccan descent. He was a defender who played as a rightback. Playing career Club Bakkati's career began when he signed a professional contract with SC Heerenveen, making his first first-team appearance in 2000, at the age of 18. After five-and-a-half years with the team from Friesland he joined fellow Eredivisie participants ADO Den Haag during the 2005–06 season. Andries Ulderink
Andries Ulderink (born 30 July 1969) is a Dutch association football coach and a former player. He coached Dutch professional and amateur teams. Since 2020, he works as the assistant coach at Twente. Football career Ulderink was a footballer at VV Reünie and HSC '21. His position was forward. Manager Ulderink started coaching at AZSV. He then continued to SC Varsseveld, SV DCS, and Rohda Raalte. 2017–18 EFL Trophy
The 2017–18 EFL Trophy, known as the Checkatrade Trophy for sponsorship reasons, was the 35th season in the history of the competition, a knock-out tournament for English football clubs in League One and League Two of the English football system, and also including 16 Premier League and Championship " B teams" with Category One status after the previous season's trial format was extended. Following the new format introduced in 2016–17, 64 teams entered the competition, including first time entries from the academy teams of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, who all declined to enter in the previous season.
