2017–18 Lowland Football League
The 2017–18 Scottish Lowland Football League (known as the Ferrari Packaging Lowland League for sponsorship reasons) was the fifth season of the Lowland Football League, the fifth tier of the Scottish football pyramid system. The season began on 28 July 2017 and ended on 8 May 2018. East Kilbride were the defending champions. Edusport Academy became the first club to gain promotion from the South of Scotland League, replacing Preston Athletic who were relegated to the East of Scotland League. Spartans won the league on 14 April 2018, after a goalless draw with East Stirlingshire at Ainslie Park in their final match. They faced the winners of the 2017–18 Highland Football League ( Cove Rangers) in the semi-finals of the League Two Play-offs, losing 5–2 on aggregate. Lowland Football League
The Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL, commonly known as the Lowland League) is a senior football league based in central and southern Scotland. The league sits at level 5 on the Scottish football league system, acting as a feeder to the Scottish Professional Football League, and is above three regional leagues at level 6. Founded in 2013, it is currently composed of 19 member clubs in a single division. Geographically, the league covers an area south of Dundee in the Lowlands area of Scotland. Since 2014-15, it has featured in the senior pyramid system. The winners take part in an end of season promotion play-off with the Highland Football League champions, with the winners then competing against the bottom club in Scottish League Two for a place in the SPFL. Ainslie Park
Ainslie Park is a football stadium located in Edinburgh, Scotland, which is the home ground of Lowland Football League club Spartans and the club's women's team in the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL). In addition, Scottish Professional Football League club Edinburgh City have shared the ground since 2017 during the redevelopment of Meadowbank Stadium, and East of Scotland Football League club Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale also played there during the 2021–22 season. The 2017–18 East of Scotland Football League (known for sponsorship reasons as the Central Taxis East of Scotland League) was the 89th season of the East of Scotland Football League, and the 4th season as the sixth tier of the Scottish football pyramid system. The season began on 12 August 2017 and ended on 12 May 2018. Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale were the defending champions. The league was increased to a 13-team division as Kelty Hearts applied to switch from the SJFA East Region Super League and Preston Athletic were relegated from the Lowland League. Kelty Hearts were crowned champions on 28 April 2018, after a 3–1 win over Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale in their final match. They secured promotion to the Lowland League after defeating South of Scotland Football League winners Threave Rovers 10–0 on aggregate.
