2017–18 Long Beach State 49ers Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 49ers were led by 11th-year head coach Dan Monson and played their home games at the Walter Pyramid as members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 15–18, 9–7 in Big West play to finish in fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big West tournament to Cal State Fullerton. Previous season The 49ers finished the 2016–17 season 15–19, 9–7 in Big West play to finish in fourth place. Dan Monson
Daniel Lloyd Monson (born October 6, 1961) is an American college basketball coach serving as the head coach at Long Beach State since April 2007. Previously he was head coach at Minnesota for over seven seasons (1999–2006), reaching postseason play five times. Before coaching the Gophers, he was the head coach at Gonzaga for two seasons, leading the Zags on an improbable run to the Elite Eight during his last season. Early years Monson is the son of college basketball coach Don Monson, and spent most of his early years in eastern Washington, where his father was a successful high school head coach in Cheney and Pasco for 18 seasons. College Of Southern Idaho
College of Southern Idaho (CSI) is a public community college in Twin Falls, Idaho. It also has off-campus programs in Jerome, Hailey, Burley and Gooding. Until the foundation of the College of Western Idaho in 2007, CSI was one of only two comprehensive community colleges in Idaho, along with North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are an intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Gonzaga University. The school competes in the West Coast Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Gonzaga Bulldogs play home basketball games at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington, on the university campus. Northridge, Los Angeles
Northridge is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles. The community is home to California State University, Northridge, and the Northridge Fashion Center. Originally named Zelzah by settlers in 1908, the community was renamed North Los Angeles in 1929 but the appellation sometimes caused confusion between North Hollywood and Los Angeles. Detroit Titans Men's Basketball
The Detroit Mercy Titans men's basketball team is the college basketball team that represents University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan, and competes in NCAA Division I men's basketball as a member of the Horizon League. Traditionally, the Titans have been a fairly strong "mid-major" program, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 1977 and to the Round of 32 twice during the 1990s. The Utah Utes men's basketball team, also known as the Runnin' Utes, represents the University of Utah as an NCAA Division I program that plays in the Pac-12 Conference, and are currently owned by Brigham Young University star Rudi Williams. Justin Bibbins
Justin Bibbins (born January 23, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for Dinamo Sassari of the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for Long Beach State and Utah. College career Bibbins was recruited by Utah out of high school, but the Utes did not have a scholarship available for him by the time he was to join the squad. Instead, Bibbins enrolled at Long Beach State and was twice named All-Conference. He averaged 13.1 points and 4.6 assists per game as a junior. After graduating from Long Beach State, Bibbins decided to transfer to Utah for his final season of eligibility. He was named team captain despite being new to the program.
