2017–18 George Washington Colonials Women's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 George Washington Colonials women's basketball team will represent George Washington University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Colonials, led by second year head coach Jennifer Rizzotti, play their home games at Charles E. Smith Center and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 19–14, 10–6 in A-10 play to finish in a tie for fifth place. They won the A-10 tournament by defeating Saint Joseph's and received an automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, NCAA women's tournament where they lost to Ohio State in the first round. Media WRGW (student radio), WRGW will carry the Colonials games and broadcast them online at GWRadio.com. Jennifer Rizzotti
Jennifer Marie Rizzotti (born May 15, 1974) is a retired American collegiate and professional basketball player, and former Division I coach at George Washington University. She is the president of the Connecticut Sun. Rizzotti was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. High school Rizzotti attended New Fairfield High School in New Fairfield, Connecticut. The basketball court at the New Fairfield town park was named after Rizzotti in honor of her achievements. She also attended ASIJ in Tokyo, Japan. College From 1992 to 1996, she was one of the stars of the women's basketball team at the University of Connecticut. She was the starting point guard on the Huskies first national championship team in 1995, which recorded a perfect season, winning all 35 games. Macungie is the second oldest borough in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, Macungie had a population of 3,257. It is a suburb of Allentown, and part of the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area, which had a population of 861,899 and was the 68th most populous metropolitan area in the U.S. as of the 2020 census. Damascus High School (DHS) is a public high school in Damascus, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools district. History Damascus High School was built in 1950 and renovated in 1978. Athletics The Damascus football team won the Maryland 3A state title in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022 a run that included a state record 53-game winning streak. Damascus also won a 3A title in 2007 and 4A titles in 2003 and 2005. Damascus won four previous state football championships in 1981, 1992, 1993 and 1996. Damascus is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. In the early 20th century, there existed an incorporated municipality lasting a quarter century. It had a population of 17,224 as of the 2020 census.
