2017–18 First Professional Football League (Bulgaria)
The 2017–18 First Professional Football League was the 94th season of the top division of the Bulgarian football league system, the 70th since a league format was adopted for the national competition of A Group as a top tier of the pyramid and also the 2nd season of the First Professional Football League, which decides the Bulgarian champion. The season is the second with a new league structure and strict financial criteria where 14 clubs play each other home and away, until the league is split up in championship and relegation playoffs. The new league structure, inspired by the ones used by the Belgian First Division A and Danish Superliga, was approved by the Bulgarian Football Union on 6 June 2016. The fixture list was released on 22 June 2017. On 29 April 2018, four rounds before the end of the championship, Ludogorets Razgrad managed to secure the title for a seventh consecutive and overall time. PFC Neftochimic Burgas
Neftochimic ( bg, Нефтохимик) is a Bulgarian professional association football club based in Burgas, which currently competes in B RFG Burgas, the fifth tier of the Bulgarian football league system, after being disqualified for financial problems in 2021 from the Second League and reformed in 2022. The team plays its home games at the local Lazur Stadium, which it used to share with PSFC Chernomorets Burgas up until 2015. FC Montana
FC Montana ( bg, ФК Монтана) is a Bulgarian association football club based in Montana, which currently plays in the Second League, the second level of Bulgarian football league system. Montana plays its home matches at the Ogosta Stadium, which has a capacity of 8,000 spectators. The club's traditional colours are blue, white and red. Lokomotiv ( bg, Локомотив) is a Bulgarian association football club based in Gorna Oryahovitsa, which currently competes in the Third League, the third level of Bulgarian football. OFC Nesebar
Nesebar ( bg, Несебър) is a Bulgarian municipal ( bg, общински, pronounced obshtinski) association football club based in Nesebar, Burgas Province, that competes in the Third League, the third tier of Bulgarian football. Nesebar have played in the second tier or below for the majority of the club’s history, up until 2004 when the team promoted to A Group for the first time. Their spell in the Bulgarian elite lasted only one season however, as they were relegated. Nesebar is yet to return to the first tier. The Danish Superliga ( da, Superligaen, ) is the current Danish football championship tournament, and administered by the Danish Football Association. It is the highest football league in Denmark and is currently contested by 12 teams each year, with two teams relegated.
