The 2017–18 Detroit Red Wings season was the 92nd season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. It was also the Red Wings' first season at Little Caesars Arena. The team missed the playoffs for the second year in a row, marking the first time since 1982–83 that the Red Wings missed the playoffs in consecutive seasons. Atlantic Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League has used the name Atlantic Division for two distinct groups of teams. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The 2017–18 Arizona Coyotes season was the 39th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, the 22nd season since the franchise relocated from Winnipeg following the 1995–96 NHL season, and the 46th overall, including the World Hockey Association years. The 2017–18 Dallas Stars season was the 51st season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967, and 25th season since the franchise relocated from Minnesota prior to the start of the 1993–94 NHL season. The 2017–18 Ottawa Senators season was the 26th season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Senators failed to return to the Stanley Cup playoffs after advancing to game seven of the Eastern Conference Final in the 2017 playoffs. Team business The team moved their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate team, the Binghamton Senators, to Belleville, Ontario, becoming the Belleville Senators for the 2017–18 season. Jared Coreau (born November 5, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He is currently playing for HC Slovan Bratislava of the Slovak Extraliga. Thomas McCollum (born December 7, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for HC TWK Innsbruck of the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). McCollum was drafted 30th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. McCollum was born in Amherst, New York, but grew up in Sanborn, New York.
