2017–18 Danish 1st Division
The 2017–18 Danish 1st Division season was the 22nd season of the Danish 1st Division league championship, governed by the Danish Football Association. The division-champion, the runners-up and the third placed team are promoted to the 2018–19 Danish Superliga. The teams in 11th and 12th places are relegated to the 2018–19 Danish 2nd Divisions. Participants Esbjerg fB finished last in the 2016–17 Danish Superliga relegation play-off and were relegated to the 1st Division for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Viborg FF lost to FC Helsingør in the relegation play off and were relegated after two seasons in the first tier as well. Hobro IK and FC Helsingør were promoted to the 2017–18 Danish Superliga. AB and Næstved Boldklub were relegated to the 2017–18 Danish 2nd Divisions. Vejle Boldklub
Vejle Boldklub is a Danish professional football club based in Vejle in Jutland. Formed in 1891, the club is one of the most successful clubs in Danish football history, having won the Danish championship five times and the Danish cup title six times. Akademisk Boldklub Gladsaxe (or AB) is a Danish professional football club from Gladsaxe north of Copenhagen, currently playing at the 3rd highest level of Danish domestic football in the Danish 2nd Division group 1. The club was established on February 26, 1889, through a merger of Fredericia Studenternes Kricketklub and Polyteknisk Boldklub. HB Køge () is a professional Danish football club based primarily in the town of Herfølge, and secondly in the town of Køge, both in the Køge Municipality, part of 'Region of Zealand', in the eastern part of Zealand, south of Copenhagen. The 2009–10 Danish 1st Division season was the 14th season of the Danish 1st Division league championship, governed by the Danish Football Association. The division-champion, AC Horsens, and runners-up, Lyngby BK, were promoted to the 2010–11 Danish Superliga. The teams in the 14th, 15th and 16th places, Thisted FC, BK Frem and Brabrand IF, were relegated to either 2nd Division East or West, based on their respective locations. 2016–17 Danish 2nd Divisions
The 2016–17 Danish 2nd Divisions was divided in three groups of eight teams in the autumn. In spring there was a promotion play-off and a relegation play-off. The top two teams of the promotion play-off group were promoted to the 2017–18 Danish 1st Division. IK Skovbakken merged with Vejlby IK as of 1 July 2016 to form VSK Aarhus.
