2017–18 Albany Great Danes Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Albany Great Danes men's basketball team represented the University at Albany, SUNY during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Great Danes, led by 17th-year head coach Will Brown, played their home games at SEFCU Arena as members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 22–10, 10–6 in America East play to finish in fourth place. They lost to Stony Brook in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament. Despite having 22 wins, they opted to not play in a postseason tournament. Previous season The Great Danes finished the 2016–17 season 21–14, 10–6 in America East play to finish in a tie for third place. Will Brown (basketball)
William J. Brown (born October 8, 1971) is an American basketball coach. He is the former head men's basketball coach at Albany, where he served from 2002 to 2021, guiding the Great Danes to five NCAA tournament appearances. Playing career Born in Miller Place, New York, Brown played collegiate basketball at Dowling College, starting for three years. He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in assists, three-point field goals and free-throw percentage, and is the only player in Dowling history to score 1,000 points and tally 500 assists. Coaching career Brown began his coaching career at The College of Saint Rose, serving as an assistant coach for three seasons. He then became the head coach at Sullivan County Community College, compiling a record of 90–10 in three seasons. South Atlanta High School is a public high school located in the southeast corner of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It is located on the site of former George High School, and it formed as the result of the merger of George and nearby Fulton High School. It has been transformed into a campus of four small schools. Ahmad Clark (born January 9, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for KK Feniks 2010 Skopje of the Prva A Liga. He played college basketball for Albany. High school career Clark attended DeMatha Catholic High School. He joined the varsity basketball team as a junior. Clark rarely played on the team, which was one of the best in the country headlined by NBA player Markelle Fultz. However, he impressed coach Mike Jones with his personality, and Jones considered him skilled despite his infrequent usage. Clark took a postgraduate season at DME Academy. The Tarleton State Texans (formerly the Tarleton State Texans and TexAnns), also known as the Tarleton Texans, are the athletic teams that represent Tarleton State University of Stephenville, Texas in NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports.
