Music Of Sweden
The Music of Sweden shares roots with its neighboring countries in Scandinavia, as well as Eastern Europe, including polka, schottische, waltz, polska and mazurka. The Swedish fiddle and nyckelharpa are among the most common Swedish folk instruments. The instrumental genre is the biggest one in Sweden. In the 1960s, Swedish youth sparked a roots revival in Swedish folk culture. Many joined ''Spelmanslag'' (folk musicians' clubs) and performed on mainstream radio and TV. They focused on instrumental polska music, with vocals and influences from other traditional genres becoming more prominent since the 1990s. By 1970, the "dansband" culture also began. Swedish music has also included more modern and pop influences. On a per capita basis, Sweden is one of the world's most successful exporters of popular music. Robin Bengtsson
Robin Bengtsson (born 27 April 1990) is a Swedish singer who took part in Swedish Idol 2008. He represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine with the song "I Can't Go On" finishing in 5th place. Career Bengtsson was born in Svenljunga. He finished third behind winner Kevin Borg and runner-up Alice Svensson in ''Idol 2008''. In mid-2009, he was signed by Merion Music label releasing the single "Another Lover's Gone". Bengtsson was also a guest of Katrin Zytomierska's programs ''Idol 2008: Eftersnack'' and ZTV program ''Sexuellt''. In 2010, Bengtsson took part in the charity song "Wake Up World" for "Hjälp Haiti" with Karl Martindahl and Daniel "The Moniker" Karlsson and also performed the song "Long Long Night" with Kim Fransson (known from the TV reality program '' Made in Sweden''. In The Passing Light Of Day
''In the Passing Light of Day'' is the tenth studio album by Swedish band Pain of Salvation, released on 13 January 2017 via InsideOut Music. A concept album like every other by the band, the lyrics focus on mortality, death and the joys and angers of life. The album is dedicated to "my lover, my best friend", in reference to Daniel Gildenlöw's wife Johanna Iggsten. Album information The album was conceived in 2014 when bandleader Daniel Gildenlöw contracted a life-threatening flesh eating bacteria. Hospitalized in Uppsala, Sweden, he was forced to sit out of Transatlantic's KaLIVEoscope tour. While receiving treatment Gildenlöw wrote the songs that became the basic premise of the album, including the 15 minute title track. The song is about Daniel’s wife Johanna and the life they've spent together. It makes reference to "A Trace of Blood" from '' Remedy Lane'', written about Johanna's miscarriage. Stockholm Jazz Festival is an annual music festival that was established in 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden, originally called the Stockholm Jazz and Blues Festival. A portion of the first festival was broadcast on Swedish television. City Of London Sinfonia
City of London Sinfonia (CLS) is an English chamber orchestra based in London. CLS performs regularly across the city of London in venues from East London clubs to traditional Central London concert halls. CLS is orchestra-in-residence at Opera Holland Park since 2004 and holds a residency at St Paul's Cathedral. The orchestra has developed close links with joint venture partners in Mexico and Japan, having toured to Mexico in May 2015 and to Japan in March 2017. It is a registered charity under English law. Bråvalla Festival was a Swedish four-day music festival that was held annually. It was Sweden's biggest and most popular music festival. It was held at Bråvalla Wing outside of Norrköping. Sweden Rock Festival
The Sweden Rock Festival is an annual rock/metal festival held in Sweden since 6 June 1992. While having a clear rock/metal focus, the festival is noted for its diversity across these genres, from southern rock bands such as Molly Hatchet to death metal legends like Obituary. The first version of the festival, known as Sommarfestivalen i Olofström, was held in Olofström in 1992. In 1993 the festival moved to Karlshamn, and changed its name to Karlshamn Rock Festival. In 1998, the festival moved to Norje, although the name Karlshamn Rock Festival was kept. In 1999 the name was changed to the Sweden Rock Festival. Martin Fröst
Martin Fröst (born 14 December 1970) is a Swedish clarinetist and conductor. He is principal conductor of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. He is also a developer of multimedia projects with music, choreography and light design, in which he appears as a clarinetist, conductor, copywriter and "master of the ceremony". He crosses musical and medial borders, willing to experiment. Early life and education Fröst was born in Sundsvall, Sweden. As a youth, Fröst began musical studies on violin at age 5. At age 8, he started to learn the clarinet. Fröst switched to clarinet after hearing a recording of Jack Brymer playing Mozart's Clarinet Concerto. Fröst studied with Hans Deinzer in Germany and Sölve Kingstedt and Kjell-Inge Stevensson in Stockholm. His first concerto performance was at age 17 with the Royal Academy of Music Orchestra. Swedish Chamber Orchestra
The Swedish Chamber Orchestra ( sv, Svenska kammarorkestern) is a Swedish orchestra based in Örebro. Established under its current name in 1995, its primary concert venue is the Örebro Concert Hall. The historical precursor ensembles to the orchestra included the ''Harmonic Society'' (Harmoniska sällskapet), which was active from 1831 to 1837. In 1859, the ''Philharmoniska sällskapet'' (Philharmonic Society) was founded under Karl Johan Lewerth.
