Tarvisio (German and fur, Tarvis, sl, Trbiž) is a comune in the northeastern part of the autonomous Friuli Venezia Giulia region in Italy. Geography The town is in the Canal Valley (''Val Canale'') between the Carnic Alps and Karawanks ranges in the north and the Julian Alps in the south. Located at the border with both Austria and Slovenia, Tarvisio and its neighbouring municipalities of Arnoldstein and Kranjska Gora form the tripoint of Romance, Germanic and Slavic Europe. The height west of the town centre marks the watershed between the Slizza creek, a tributary of the Gail River which is part of the Danube basin and the Fella River, a tributary of the Tagliamento discharging into the Adriatic Sea. Andrew Earl Kurka (born January 27, 1992) is a Paralympic alpine skier from Alaska who competes in the slalom, giant slalom, super G, downhill and super combined events. Kurka was a six-time Alaskan state champion in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling before he made it to the U.S. Paralympic National Team in 2010. As a World Champion medal winning para-alpine skier, Kurka qualified to represent the U.S. Paralympic team at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi for his debut Paralympics. On March 10, 2018, Kurka won the downhill at the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, his first Paralympic medal. Jeroen Kampschreur
Jeroen Kampschreur (born 9 April 1999 in Leiderdorp) is a Dutch paralympic skier. Kampschreur was born without shinbones, which resulted in both of his legs being amputated above the knee at age one. Consequently, he began using a wheelchair. On 23 March 2018, Kampschreur was knighted in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Education Kampschreur was a student at the Beekdal Lyceum in Arnhem, Netherlands. Chiara Mazzel (born 19 March 1996) is an Italian para-alpine skier, who won multiple events at the 2023 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships. She competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics.
