2017 Vancouver Whitecaps FC Season
The 2017 Vancouver Whitecaps FC season is the club's seventh season in Major League Soccer, the top division of soccer in the United States and Canada. Including previous iterations of the franchise, this is 40th season of professional soccer being played in Vancouver under a variation of the "Whitecaps" name. Outside of MLS, the Whitecaps played in the knockout rounds of the 2016–17 CONCACAF Champions League, where they faced fellow MLS team the New York Red Bulls in the quarterfinals. Additionally, the team played in the 2017 Canadian Championship. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club is a Canadian professional soccer team based in Vancouver. They compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league's Western Conference. The MLS iteration of the club was established on March 18, 2009, and began play in 2011 as the 17th team to enter Major League Soccer while replacing the USSF Division 2 team of the same name in the city, making them a phoenix club and the third to carry the Whitecaps name. The club has been owned and managed by the same group since their USSF days. In the 2012 season, the team became the first Canadian team to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs. The Whitecaps have won two Canadian Championships, in 2015 and 2022. David Ousted
David Ousted Hansen (born 1 February 1985) is a retired Danish footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played with SønderjyskE and Randers in the Danish Superliga, before moving to the Major League Soccer in 2013 where he went on to represent Vancouver Whitecaps, D.C. United and Chicago Fire. At the end of his career, Ousted returned to Europe playing with Hammarby IF in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Career Denmark Ousted started his career with Brøndby IF, but did not play any senior games for the club. He then played for a number of Danish 1st Division teams, before making his breakthrough with Superliga club SønderjyskE. Kendall Jamaal Waston Manley (born 1 January 1988) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Liga FPD club Saprissa and the Costa Rica national team. Club career Saprissa and loans Waston made his professional debut for Saprissa in 2006 and played on loan for Carmelita in the Primera División de Costa Rica before moving abroad for a six-month loan spell with Club Nacional de Football in the Primera División Uruguaya from February 2008. Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23, formerly known as Whitecaps FC Reserves, was a Canadian soccer team based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Although founded in 2005 as part of the development system for the Vancouver Whitecaps USL First Division franchise, beginning in 2011 they became part of the development system for Major League Soccer's Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Samuel Ayomide Adekugbe (born January 16, 1995) is a professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Süper Lig club Galatasaray and the Canada national team. Born in England, he obtained Canadian citizenship in 2016. Jordan Harvey (born January 28, 1984) is an American former professional soccer player who last played for Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC. Career Youth and college Harvey started playing club soccer with Strikers FC. Stefan Tone Marinovic ( hr, Stefan Tone Marinović, ) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the New Zealand national team. Whitecaps FC 2 is a professional soccer team based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada that serves as the reserve team of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer.
