2017 Tour Of Oman
The 2017 Tour of Oman was a road cycling stage race that took place between 14 and 19 February 2017 in Oman. It was the eighth edition of the Tour of Oman and was rated as a 2.HC race as part of the 2017 UCI Asia Tour. The previous year's winner, Vincenzo Nibali, did not defend his title. The race was won by Belgium's Ben Hermans, as part of the ; Hermans took the race lead after winning the second stage of the race, and further extended his lead with a victory in the queen stage of the race, finishing at Jabal Al Akhdhar. Hermans won the race by 22 seconds ahead of Portuguese rider Rui Costa (), who finished second on two stages during the race. The podium was completed by 's Fabio Aru from Italy, who was a further 13 seconds in arrears of Costa. Hermans duked it out for the points classification victory with Norwegian sprinter Alexander Kristoff (), with the honours ultimately going to Kristoff, who won three of the remaining four stages of the race. 2017 UCI Asia Tour
The 2017 UCI Asia Tour was the 13th season of the UCI Asia Tour. The season began on 22 October 2016 with the Tour of Hainan and ended on 7 October 2017. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Asia Tour cycling jersey. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Sultan Qaboos University
Sultan Qaboos University, located in Al Seeb in the Muscat Governorate, is one of the two public universities in the Sultanate of Oman. Most students entering the university are selected based on their performance in high school final examinations. Student enrollment has grown from 500 in 1986 to more than 10,000 in 2005.
