2017 Tour De Luxembourg
The 2017 Tour de Luxembourg was the 77th edition of the Tour de Luxembourg cycle stage race. It was held between 31 May and 4 June, as part of the 2017 UCI Europe Tour as a 2.HC event. Defending champion Maurits Lammertink did not compete in the race, as he elected to compete in the partly-concurrent Critérium du Dauphiné event in France. The race was won by Belgium's Greg Van Avermaet, riding for the . After winning the second stage of the race, Van Avermaet took the race lead from teammate Jempy Drucker, after finishing second to rider Anthony Perez the following day. Van Avermaet cemented the race victory by winning the final stage of the race, ultimately winning the race by 29 seconds overall, and winning the points classification as a result. Perez held the young rider classification lead going into the final day by just one second ahead of Benjamin Thomas () and Xandro Meurisse of , but Meurisse took the jersey, by finishing in third place on the final stage behind Van A ... 2017 UCI Europe Tour
The 2017 UCI Europe Tour was the thirteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2017 season began on 26 January 2017 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 17 October 2017 with the Nationale Sluitingsprijs. Belgium, Belgian rider Baptiste Planckaert (), who scored 1,605 points in the 2016 UCI Europe Tour, 2016 edition, was the defending champion of the UCI Europe Tour. Nacer Bouhanni () won the overall standings for the second time in three years; won the team classification, while France won both the overall nations' title and the under-23 equivalent. Diekirch
Diekirch ( lb, Dikrech or (locally) ; from ''Diet-Kirch'', i.e. "people's church") is a commune with town status in north-eastern Luxembourg, capital city of the canton Diekirch and, until its abolition in 2015, the district of Diekirch. Walferdange
Walferdange ( lb, Walfer ; german: Walferdingen) is a commune and small town in central Luxembourg. Geography The commune of Walferdange is located north of Luxembourg City in the valley of the Alzette. It is part of the canton Luxembourg. Steinfort
Steinfort ( ) is a commune and town in western Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Capellen. , the town of Steinfort, which lies in the north of the commune, has a population of 2,184. Other towns within the commune include Hagen, Kleinbettingen and Grass. Transport Road Steinfort lies at the Belgian/Luxembourg border on the Route d'Arlon (N6), the original road linking Luxembourg City to Arlon. Bascharage
Bascharage (; lb, Nidderkäerjeng ; german: Niederkerschen) is a town and a former commune in south-western Luxembourg. Since 2012, it is part of the commune of Käerjeng. History Bascharage with the other towns like Linger, Hautcharage, and Pétange were owned by the "Hoheit Kerschen". The first known reference to them was on April 4, 1281 for obtaining their freedom under the law of Beamont "Freiheitsbrief nach Böhmerrecht". The freedom of Clemency probably happened in 1260. After the occupation of France (1794 – 1815), the "Hoheit Kerschen" changed in "municipalité cantonale Bascharage" with the townships of Bascharage, Clemency, Mamer, Garnich, and Dippach. Damien Gaudin (born 20 August 1986 in Beaupréau) is a French former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional from 2008 to 2021. He competed for France at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream.
