2017 Summit League Baseball Tournament
The 2017 Summit League baseball tournament took place from May 24 through 27. The top four regular season finishers of the league's six teams met in the double-elimination tournament held at J. L. Johnson Stadium on the campus of Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The winner of the tournament will earn the Summit League's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Seeding The top four finishers from the regular season will be seeded one through four based on conference winning percentage during the double round robin regular season. The teams will then play a double elimination tournament. Ryan Folmar
Ryan Folmar (born November 8, 1974) in an American baseball coach and former catcher. He is the current head baseball coach of the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles. He played college baseball at Oklahoma State from 1994 to 1997 for head coaches Gary Ward and Tom Holliday before playing professionally in the Colorado Rockies organization from 1997 to 1998. Playing career Folmar was drafted out of Chambersburg Area Senior High School in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania in the 46th round of the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft by the California Angels, but elected to attend Oklahoma State instead. After the 1994 season, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. A four year starter with the Cowboys, he helped lead the team to the 1996 College World Series in his junior season. Oral Roberts Golden Eagles Baseball
The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles baseball team is the intercollegiate baseball team of Oral Roberts University. It plays in the NCAA Division I Summit League. The team won the Mid-Con and Summit League regular season and tournament titles for 15 years straight between 1998 and 2012. Upon returning to the Summit League, the team repeated the feat in 2015 and 2016. In 2006, they advanced to the NCAA Super Regional. Key moments The ORU baseball team advanced to the College World Series in 1978 and has made 22 NCAA tournament appearances overall. In addition, ORU baseball made 15 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances from 1998 to 2012 and played in the regional finals in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011, winning the 2006 Regional Championship. Summit League
The Summit League, or The Summit, is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic conference with its membership mostly located in the Midwestern United States from Illinois on the East of the Mississippi River to the Dakotas and Nebraska on the West, with additional members in the Western United States, Western state of Colorado and the Southern United States, Southern state of Oklahoma. The Summit League baseball tournament is the conference baseball championship of the NCAA Division I's Summit League. The top four finishers in the regular season of the conference's seven teams advance to the double-elimination tournament, which in 2024 will return to J. L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
