The team was led by 5th year head coach Chad Holbrook. Chad Holbrook
Chad Holbrook (born January 14, 1971) is an American baseball coach, who is the current head baseball coach of the College of Charleston Cougars. Prior to becoming head coach for the Cougars, Holbrook was head coach at the University of South Carolina, and an assistant for both the University of North Carolina and the University of South Carolina. Playing career Holbrook attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill from 1990 to 1993, receiving second-team All-ACC honors as a senior. He graduated in 1994 with a degree in physical education. In 1992, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Coaching career North Carolina At the conclusion of his playing career, Holbrook served as an undergraduate assistant coach for the 1994 season before being promoted to Assistant Coach in 1995 and Associate head coach in 2007. Jerry Meyers
Jerry Meyers (born March 8, 1965) is an American college baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head coach for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. Meyers attended the Iowa State University from 1984-1987 before starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant at South Alabama. Later he was an assistant coach at Gulf Coast Community College, UNC-Wilmington, and Old Dominion. Prior to the 1996 season he joined the coaching staff at University of South Carolina as the pitching coach the under Ray Tanner. Old Dominion Meyers spent eight seasons at South Carolina before being named the head baseball coach at Old Dominion University after the 2004 college baseball succeeding Tony Guzzo. During his time at ODU Meyers compiled an overall record of 167-158 in six seasons. He was named the 2006 CAA Coach of the Year and in 2008 he was the pitching coach for Team USA. Founders Park
Founders Park, formerly known as Carolina Stadium, is a stadium in Columbia, South Carolina on the banks of the Congaree River. The facility was built for a cost of $35.6 million and is used for college baseball as home to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team. Facility overview The dimensions of the field are down the right and left-field lines and to dead center, matching those of Sarge Frye Field, the previous home stadium of the Gamecocks. The baseball training facilities at the stadium include four indoor batting tunnels, a weight room, team clubhouse, coaches' offices, and a sports medicine room. Among the numerous amenities for fans, there are five luxury suites and two club-level seating areas with lounges, a Gamecock store just inside the main entrance in the outfield plaza, along with a picnic terrace that accommodates around 120 people down the left-field line. The 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began in February 2017. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2017 College World Series.
