2017 Shippensburg Raiders Football Team
The 2017 Shippensburg Raiders football team was an American football team that represented Shippensburg University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) during the 2017 NCAA Division II football season. Led by seventh-year head coach Mark Maciejewski, the Raiders compiled a 10–1 record and tied for the East Division championship. Both of the team's losses were to West Chester, first in the regular season and later in the Division II playoffs. The team played its home games at Seth Grove Stadium in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. After the season, Maciejewski was named the 2017 AFCA Division II Region 1 Coach of the Year. Seven Shippensburg players were selected as first-team players on the All-PSAC East football team: quarterback Ryan Zapoticky; wide receiver Winston Eubanks; defensive linemen Richard Nase and Dakota Thompson; linebacker Tyler Emge; and defensive backs Richard Sheler and Kevin Taylor. Seth Grove Stadium
Seth Grove Stadium is a stadium on the campus of Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. The stadium is named for the late J. Seth Grove, former faculty member and coach at Shippensburg. The stadium was built in 1972 and has a capacity of 7,700. 6,700 seats in the main grandstand and 1,000 seats on the visitors’ side of the field. History Originally it had a capacity of 7,600. From 1987 to 1989, temporary bleachers were set up beyond the north end zone for football games and commencement, boosting the capacity to 8,200. In 1990, the 900-seat bleacher set on the visitors’ side was removed for safety reasons and the 600 temporary seats were moved from the end zone to the visitors’ side, giving the stadium a capacity of 7,300. Kutztown (Pennsylvania German: ''Kutzeschteddel'') is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located southwest of Allentown and northeast of Reading. Cheyney is an unincorporated community that sits astride Chester and Delaware counties in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It corresponds to the census-designated place known as Cheyney University, which had a population of 988 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
