2017 Rugby League World Cup
The 2017 Rugby League World Cup was the fifteenth staging of the Rugby League World Cup tournament and took place in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea between 27 October and 2 December 2017. The tournament featured the national teams of 14 Rugby League International Federation member countries who qualified through either standing in the previous tournament or a series of qualification play-off matches. In the final, defending champions Australia, playing in their 14th consecutive final, defeated England at Brisbane's Lang Park. Host selection At the 2010 Rugby League International Federation executive meeting, the New Zealand Rugby League made an early submission to co-host the 2017 tournament with Australia. Enock Maki (born 9 December 1989) is a Papua New Guinean rugby league footballer who previously played for the PNG Hunters in the Intrust Super Cup and also represented Papua New Guinea in the 2013 World Cup and 2017 Rugby League World Cup. Background Enock comes from the Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea in a small village called Keltiga outside the provincial capital Mount Hagen. He is the third child in a family of four, his older brothers are Wilson and Junior Maki. Wilson Maki played for Mount Hagen Eagles in 2003, and was forced to quit due to injuries. James Segeyaro (born 11 November 1990), also known by the nickname of "Chicko" is a Papua New Guinean-Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a for the FC Lézignan XIII in the Elite One Championship. Willie Minoga
Willie Minoga (born 17 September 1987) in Wapenamanda, Enga Province is a Papua New Guinean professional rugby league footballer who played for the Barrow Raiders in the Betfred Championship. He rejoined the Papua New Guinea Hunters at the end of 2016 after spending one season playing for the Townsville Blackhawks in the same competition.
